Sabres & Flames simply don't make good trade partners, not sure why these two clubs keep coming up together. Other clubs could come up with better fits for CGY than BUF.

Buffalo shouldn't touch Gaudreau (would be poor asset mgmt for someone who probably walks in 20 months or would require an awful overpay to stay) & the pieces to acquire Sean don't fit for CGY.

Calgary gives best player and a 1st?? Seems legit...

Not the greatest way to look at it.

Monahan > Reinhart, but it's not that big of a gap.

Bennett = Montour

Mittelstadt makes up the gap between Monahan and Reinhart, but unbalances the trade.

Swapping 19 for 38 evens it back out.

If you somehow think monahan + 1st = reinhart mitts and 2nd then idk what to say.....

Mittelstadt scares me. He’s almost had a Puljujarvi-esque trajectory to his career. Not sure why he didn’t make the Sabres full time when they’re so goal starved.

I feel like the Flames will have plenty of suitors for Monahan & Hanifin as they play premium positions in the NHL, so I suspect the price will be driven quite high.

I like how people are putting Bennett and Mangi in as throw ins. They are legit up and comers. Those who actually watch the Flames know how valuable both those guys are. In fact their progression is why many fans would be open to trading Gaudreau and Monohan. Because we believe Dube, Mangi, and Bennett can replace them in the lineup and actually preform better in the playoffs.
