Regehr is really a bottom pairing Dman at this stage. He showed that last season. His experience is valuable and his a good shutdown guy but he can't keep up.

Myers is a problem and well talked about. Not sure about anyone else.

I can't figure out why Myers is paired with Leo. I'd like to see him with Sekera, who IMHO is a more reliable D-man. They could, and maybe should, be our top D-pair, so why not let them grow into it?

Besides that, I don't understand Myers play. He too must be frustrated and feel that his game isn't working, so why not try to keep it simple? Start with the basics, stay at home, get the puck out. Simple, ugly play. Hasn't anyone told him he's a defenceman?

And I would really like Tallinder back, if he can still provide and the price is not to high. I miss the days when Sabres was a hard team to beat because of the solid D from Tallinder and Lydman. Now it's like opponents don't even have to try - they just have to wait for us to eff it up ourselves.

If you have a turd don't you put it with another turd instead of on top of your Roast? :)

Myers is young and may feel his capable of more. His one of the youngest and easily the most skilled of our defensive unit. There is a lot of pressure on him and it seems no-one is there to help him mentally cope with it. That may be the reason for the number of mistakes we are seeing him make. At a guess.

At what point do we start to think differently?

He's been "struggling" for the best part of 3 years now.

Ever since Tallinder left... He needs someone he can rely on defensively, Leopold is not the right man, I would suppose that he's with Leo because Ruff thinks that he can be somewhat of a mentor just as Tallinder was. I honestly think Regehr and Myers would be way better. Reg is slow, and can stay behind while Myers just roams around like a bulldozer which he's good at. I really hope he can become something similar to Chara.

Last season he struggled and this season has barely started. Sophmore wasn't too bad but high expectations were placed on him.

If he turns 26 and we are still talking like this it's too late. If in 2 seasons he hasn't gained some consistency we run like someone stole our bike.

Disagree, some players, especially players with franchise cornerstone potential (Grig, Myers) might need time to adapt. Especially under Ruff, who doesn't have the greatest track record with highly skilled players.

I don't think Regehr would work there.
Part of the reason why Tallinder worked there was cos Hank was very mobile, and lanky with a big reach, could cover a big area if Myers went rushing up ice.

Regehr will check you into the boards and leave noone standing in front of the net, but he's among the slowest guys in the league.

As much as I want to disagree I can't. He also can't handle the high minutes that will be expected of Myers.
