This is a stupid PP approach based on a high umbrella with one timers from either side. The bumper in the middle is Cozens. That's a waste because he can't hit the net. Neither wing can cross ice accurately enough and quick enough to catch the goalie moving so the passes have to go through the point and thus the angle of the shooter has to adjust wider and more acute to 1 time the puck.

If this is Apperts approach, then he needs to change it. The Sabres do not have a Robertson/Johnson or MacKinnon/Rantanen combo to work this.
