Haven't watched enough of Quinn to have an opinion worth anything. It seems odd for him to have flashed skill the way he did early on, then fade away.
Rossi lost a full year of development due to Covid induced Myocarditis(swollen heart). Then found out in the AHL that he was simply too slow, and weak.... it was always a given he was small in stature, but that was sort of glossed over at the draft. While he scored at the AHL level due to vg hockey sense and puck skills, he would not win puck battles anywhere on the ice, and would not be able to get to spots on the ice ahead of his competitors. It took him two near full years in the AHL and one great summer of training, to change his body so that he was strong and fast enough for the NHL. Credit to him. Many players talk about working hard in the off season, but very few work harder than their peers, and just do the expected workout before going fishing. Rossi stayed in Saint Paul and transformed his body and skating- he always had the hands and brain. He now is a decent NHL 2C, with a chance to be a low end 1C.
Having said all that, there are persistent rumours about Guerin wanting to trade him. Seems bizarre, to me.
Anyway, back to today's game. I am picking BUF to win. MN does badly in day games, and after a couple of good games in a row, are due for a letdown. With them missing Kaprizov, JEE, Rossi, Foligno, and possibly one or two more, MN can't win unless they play a perfect game, and that isn't easy over the course of a season. I also think that the Sabres have the talent to beat anyone - sounds like a crazy statement, but there it is. You guys will be playing a team that iced Brazeau, Hinnestroza, Gaunce, Devin Shore, and Ohgren (only one with potential, but needs time) last game, as well as one more AHL call up due to Rossi being out. That's half a forward unit of AHL'ers.
