Back end of a Back to Back against Buffalo on a Sunday after a loss to Detroit. Doesn’t smell like victory does it, maybe Napalm but not victory.

Every time this team has had an opportunity to take a commanding lead in the Atlantic, they squabble it.

This team just doesn’t have that IT factor in them. It’s not about the loss, it’s about the attitude. Go ahead and win tonight, but it would have been much better to win both games this weekend.

This season is mirroring every season for the past couple of seasons now.

.500 October
Amazing November
Bunch of Losses near Christmas and New Years in December and Early Jan
Recovery in February
.500 March/April

Finish third in the division and first round exit.

Rinse, repeat….

You forgot Leafs starting Hildebeast who has been the worst of the 3 Marlies goalies. Of course when opportunity knocked for Murray, he was injured.
Murray came in relief when the Marlies went down 5-1 and AA gave up 5 goals on 15 shots.

Marlies came back to win 6-5

I think it will be impossible to finish third in the division this season.

Murray played yesterday.

If Stolarz is day-to-day, it makes the most sense to play him because of waivers/professional experience/development (play AA while he's up)/etc

Automatic loss. Can't see the bottom six and the D core chipping in offensively, and the core 4 just don't seem to give enough Fs to amp up against a weak opponent.

No one will care to watch or play in this one but it will go nuclear post game.

I thought they'd turn the funk around by now but it will get worse before it gets better.

These games can definitely be a toxic mix: the wrong night of the week, a weak opponent, funky vibes on the Leafs, surly fanbase.

Doesn't feel like must watch TV, does it?
This one is in fierce competition with the Anaheim game for most irrelevant game of the year. The 5 pm start time on a Sunday might put this one over the top.

Bills/Lions, Eagles/Steelers both 4:25, come on NFL. And Leafs/Sabres….pass on this one
Yeah I'm not really an NFL fan, more a Buffalo fan so I'll be watching the Leafs between action in the Buffalo game. That game though, boy that's as interesting as they come. Hoping it's a Super Bowl preview!

Least interesting game, that I could maybe go along with the the winner gets two points just like every other game so this one is anything but irrelevant. It's losing games like last night and this one today that people always look back on at the end of the year as costing us 1st place in the division.

Our division has gone from being the toughest in the NHL to being the easiest one to win. If we can't even win it this season, it's not a good sign.

It's scary how accurate this is. Totally agree about the IT factor and the attitude. Just a couple of weeks ago people were raving about how good this team is under Berube yada yada yada and now, it's beginning to look just like all the other seasons with this gutless core. Sigh.

Your last point is why I think games like this are mostly irrelevant. The Leafs should get the two points, even if they look ugly doing so, but it may not even matter this year because I think the division lead will practically be handed to them on a silver platter. Florida is playing like they want the regular season to end now. Tampa and Boston are great at beating up on bad teams and then promptly getting beaten up by good teams, and the rest of the division is its usual wasteland (although Ottawa is finally starting to show some life).

The Leafs schedule starts to turn a bit more challenging around January 9. Until then, they should be able to rack up a lot of points.
