GDT: Sabres at Flyers - Battle of the Basement; 1:00 p.m. EDT, 3/29/2025

so, we'd a probably in a playoff spot had Dahlin played the entire year
Not even close. Our PP and PK (aside from SHG) have been atrocious. Combine shit special teams, shit team defense and shit goaltending post-break.........we're not a playoff team.

The ONLY thing playoff worthy right now is our 5v5 play -- we're better 5v5 than a few teams in playoff spots.

so, I'm reading:
no Dahlin? what happened to him?
UPL was shit? So what else is new? (weren't the Sabres leading 3-2 at one point?)

It's getting to the point where I'm not even paying attention to the hockey related threads in the Sabres section. Pegula still owning the team so who gives a shit? Nothing will change til he's gone.
You folks that are still watching...bless your patience.

Reported as illness for Dahlin.

.523 with him in the lineup puts them just outside 8 right now. *shrug* Injury are part of the game. They are not good enough. They remain terrible at essential elements of the game - who knew bringing back all the same assistants who got the same results out of their position players would do exactly the same thing year on year? Like, who knew?

That's sarcasm.

I wonder if Anderson would be interested ?

Andy and the family live in Sunrise. I know he's talked about how much he was enjoying being around his kids.

I would like them to do more than just the easiest path for a change. There is no indication that Anderson would be a good goalie coach.

we're only 9 points out, however. With Dahlin healthy for those 9 games, just playing at our pace with him in gets us 10 points, putting is in a playoff position

Goalies tend to fall into a good year / bad year rhythm. He'll be .920 next year, right? Right?

This team is such a clusterf***, but have too much talent to be this bad. Please get an NHL level coaching staff. Get rid of everyone.
I think many are falling into the gambler’s fallacy. The assumption being we accumulated a lot of high end talent and therefore we are bound to get better. However, it ignores the fact that all teams accumulate talent. Those that use their talent as assets to improve the team the best by either developing and supporting the home grown or trading it for needs tend to continually succeed. The Sabres neither develop nor support prospects well nor realize that all players are depreciating assets and need to be moved when need or useful life dictates. All this to say, they bought out a guy this year and did nothing with the proceeds. They actually believed they were better off without an nhl player to replace Skinner than with. Zucker was not in my opinion his replacement. He was a blue light special. Many look at the late season and forget that much of it is meaningless. Smh.

Defensive genius

Sure hope he doesn’t get a head coaching jig

I don't think I would trust him with a U12 team.

The amount of run this guy has had and the reason he got sacked in Anaheim was that they didn't like the job he did with their young defensemen. Seems like a trend. Pegs cheapness biting them in the ass since none of the assistants should have been retained.

I like Donnie and think it was time to move on but not a good look that we took a step back without him. I don't have much doubt that if Donnie's assistants were somebody more experienced that we'd be better this year than we were last year/

Ruff recently said something like "don't make me try and think like goalie coach"

Surely below Millers pay grade/arrangement (West Coast) as well. Just trying to think of some realistic options.Bales has worn out his welcome.
