Value of: Sabres 1st Round Pick #9

His advanced stats don't say that. The fact that he was drawing Norris consideration last year (when he got 70 points as a 6'4" RHD) also don't point to that either.

I'm not saying he's McAvoy, but he's not one dimensional.

What about Byram for Dobson?

Don't see the Isles being interested in Byram, especially if they're taking Schaefer. It's not that bad value wise (Buffalo probably has to add to Byram) but just doesn't work.

If the Isles are dealing Dobson, I think they'd prefer picks and prospects.

Fair enough. Dobson's value to Buffalo is scuffed if he can take his QO then walk. They have 3 recent 1st round forward prospects: Ostlund, Helenius, Rosen, but they can't trade those for a pure rental.

I'd imagine any Dobson deal comes with a massive 8 year extension. Dunno about the Sabres' cap situation but it's gonna be at least $9 million per, with the rising cap.

Not all Sabres fans would pass on Dobson.

I'd do 9th overall + Quinn or Rosen for Dobson.

His advanced stats are uneven, he's had 1 terrible defensive season, and a few at neutral, but also 1 excellent defensive season. His points are all over the place too, Is he a 40, 50, or 70 point d-man? The Sabres interest in him would actually go up if he was consistently like he was this season. A 40 point defensively responsible RHD. His 70 point season is actually a bit of a detractor as it's probably going to get him paid way more than he's worth.

If Willander isn't willing to sign in Van, why would he be willing to sign in Buf?

Is that an AI summary of Willander's value? lol

Sabres should be interested in Conor Garland, he's a the type of middle 6er we need. Only 1 year left on the contract is rough though.
Conor Garland is the type of middle six forward the Sabres need?

Devils have a glut of RHD. I think NJ will try and trade Hamilton this offseason but he has a 10 team trade list, 9m x 3 years cap hit and is more offensively minded. Devils might retain if for some reason he's willing to go to Buffalo, and it got them the 9th overall which they then move for forward help.

I don't think Devils will trade Nemec anymore, Casey doesn't fit, Pesce has a NTC, and Kovacevic isn't good enough.
Hamilton is a capdump. You have to retain just to dump him. At 50% you won’t get 9OA but you would get value.

Sharks could dump him with no retention if they take $2.5m to $5m back in cap (even one year contracts would be okay). They wouldn't get much for him really though. Maybe a little value if they take back $4m +.

Extreme example : Hamilton to SJS for Desharnais + 5th round pick (opens up $6.5m in cap and Desharnais is a 1 year contract)

EDIT - for Buffalo, replace Desharnais with Clifton and then you're possibly taking additional cap too.

Not sure how you say value is off? Faber + 1st for Fiala is very comparable......Faber was less highly touted though AND wanted to go to Minny - this is the same sort of trade.

You can argue you don't like it but yes the value is Absolutely there...........
Well that trade was a bad trade for LA from day one. Farber was the only guy in LA’s system with top pair potential. Blake got worked over in all his bigger deals.

Even if we had Bjorkstrand this probably isn't something I would do. Maybe for like, Beniers or something.

?

I'm very confident that Beniers has more value than any of those pieces, Bjorkstrand, the #9 pick, any of it.

I think he'd be closer to the #4. That's not saying he's all that great now, but he's a 22 year old with high pedigree, high two-way floor, etc...

FWIW I don't think Larsson fetches a top ten pick. Maybe something around pick #20, and that might only be at the trade deadline. His term will scare some teams away.
