Even if the other player is looking at the sky with a banjo in his hands, you aren't allowed to make the head a principal point of contact.

You're just making excuses to justify an illegal hit.
I don’t care for either team. Either you go through the chest legally or through the shoulder. Look how low nurse is vs Reaves. It’s a lot less predatory than you want it to be. Reaves didn’t stick anything out at all and when you throw a hit either you go through the shoulder or chest. I have a hard time seeing ANY extension to his head. Only thing I see is nurse putting himself in a vulnerable position and paying for it. Unfortunate circumstances and bad awareness.

Not sure why Nurse was skating with his head down completely unaware that Reaves was coming, no sense of self preservation?
Nurse always skates with his head down

Regardless, dirty hit and it doesn’t belong in the game

Am I crazy? Headshot was definitely no good, but no charge, no jump + nurse being crouched over not protecting himself. 2 games maybe?
Yeah I agree with your assessment. We just saw jeannot get 3 games and his elbow to boeser head was after the puck left and more of a targeted hit. The reeves hit was more of a follow through and nurse crouched over and still possession of the puck. This is 2 games max.

Great still. Why doesn't he aim for the vast majority of Nurse that he leaves untouched so he can hit Nurse in the head instead?

Incidental head contact makes it illegal, but otherwise it's a great hit. Those are the type of hits we used to see in the league 20 years ago, when the league was exciting to watch.

It doesn't matter what you feel about the hit. These hits have been considered illegal for years. The vast majority of Nurse's body was there to hit. Reeves made the head the principal point of contact.

Watch the frames right before that when Reaves is reaching for the puck and his shoulder is below Nurses head and then makes the decision to elevate his shoulder into the hit. I don't think he aimed for the head, but if he can't control himself then he shouldn't be throwing hits like that and frankly shouldn't be in the league (his actual hockey ability already suggests that).
