Open and shut case. Aside from the memes of taking a plug out of the lineup for the Leafs he deserves as many games as he gets.

I mean it's also a borderline charge that could have been called had there not been a headshot, he's above the circles and on opposite size of the ice when he starts to hunt him and takes several hard strides before accelerating into him, even if he's gliding just before doesn't mean it can't be a charge. the rule explicitly mentions distance travelled.

coupled with a defenseless player picking up and trying to control a rolling puck off the boards, it's pretty bad.

You're playing with fire making that hit, doesn't matter if your elbows down or didn't jump into it. you can't hit the head.

So unnecessary. How has this clown still in the league?

Hell get 3-5 games and it doesnt hurt anyone, except Nurse whos brain is now scrambled.

Stupid, unnecessary, dont need it in hockey, play.

agreed, reeves is a predator.

the sad thing is that the NHL does not really want to remove that hit from the NHL, they just want to general public to believe they want to remove the hit..its a joke. every one of these hits is preventable but the NHL is scared shitless to do it...

LOVED seeing that bone crushing hit by Reaves. That would not even have been a penalty - - and definitely not a suspension - - before Gary Bettman turned the NHL into a cream puff league.

Nurse should never come wheeling out with his head down like that. Hopefully this is a reminder lesson and he doesn’t make that mistake anytime soon.

Notice that not a single Edmonton player went after Reaves. They didn’t even give him a dirty look.

Nurse with his head down stupidly watching the puck on his stick. A few years ago Reaves would have been lauded for that hit. Now when players make stupid mistakes the pitchforks come out and the crowd is ready to hang the hitter.
Would’ve been a beautiful hit had it not been primarily all head. Nurse was caught in La La land

Agree 100%.

Novice fans new to the sport don’t realize that hockey is a physical game.

Nurse made a dumb mistake wheeling around his own net while his head was down, but his teammates are equally at fault - - they should have been calling out to him that Reaves was coming so that Nurse could have braced for impact.

that is because medical folk and in fact, most of the general public are aware that doctors are now permitted to provide a diagnosis of a concussion, now known as CTE...fact is Reeves needs to hit his fellow employee in the NHL players Union in the shoulder there and not target his head and provide brain damage to a co-worker...

If you really want to punish the player and team, make a ruling that he's elevated to the 1st line and must play at least 18 minutes a game and be on the top PP unit.

How many people have to make this dumb take?

Who was going to fight him? Connor Brown? Adam Henrique?

A few? Yeah, like 10 years ago. It doesn't matter what was accepted a decade ago. You can't make the head the principal point of contact. Your post is just white noise.

Might as well talk about how it was cool to two-hand swing your stick at a player's head in the 40s and 50s.

wtf does swinging a stick at someones head have to do with throwing a body check? You're completely out to lunch.
