Top line winger that can score consistently (and isn't inept/useless away from the puck) of a similar age to Barzal with him out. What are NYI needs right now?
NoSlafkovsky + Matheson + Mailloux for Dobson
What would you ask for instead of Matheson?Top line winger that can score consistently (and isn't inept/useless away from the puck) of a similar age to Barzal with him out.
No
Not Matheson. Too much money and too much term for a 3rd pairing LD. Also not interested in Slafkovsky honestly. What would you ask for instead of Matheson?
Contender you say? Look no further than the Sabres hockey club of Buffalo, New York. With all of the recent D pickups by the Islanders (Perunovich, Deangelo, Boqvist) there will be a roster crunch as the team starts to get healthy. They've all played pretty well so far (especially Deangelo), and with the probable impending losses of Nelson and Palmieri after this season we'll need to plug those holes. Islanders never get free agents, so right now it seems like trading one of these two is the best way to go.
Pulock has 5 years left on a 6.15M deal and has a NTC, so will likely only waive to go to a contender. Dobson has no trade protection and is due a new contract after this season. I'd prefer to trade Pulock, but Dobson seems like the easier one to move. What can your team offer for one of these top 4 RHD?
A D3 team from the area being your best shot at a championship isn't what we had in mind when we said contender. However, Pulock for one of those useful scoring top 6 forwards would be an interesting one.Contender you say? Look no further than the Sabres hockey club of Buffalo, New York.
Seriously though, Pulock would be exactly what the doctor ordered.
Wait. He's still around? And it seems like you are asking this question seriously??Incarcerated Bob is not legit?
No, absolutely not. They're just both available. I'd imagine Dobson at age 25 with a 70 point season under his belt and under team control is worth quite a bit more than Pulock at this point. Is this thread indicating these two have similar value?
An Islanders beat writer suggested this as well. I personally think there should be a small add from the blues to offset the value, but I'm not opposed to it. I'd rather trade Pulock if possible, but that's the kind of player we'd be targeting for Dobson for sure.Blues would want Dobson, Kyrou/Dobson could make sense if Dobson has an extension.
I have no idea what to make of McMichael right now as I haven't seen him play much. If I remember correctly he got off to an insane start, but it looks like he must have slowed down quite a bit. What's the reason for the drop off? Just a return to reality?McMichael for Dobson in the offseason?
He had a hot start to the first 20 or so games to the season and then went cold shortly after, possibly due to being a first time father? Tbf, the entire team went cold offensively after Ovi returned from injury. He's picked the pace back up in the last ~10 games and still on pace to be a 30g/30a player. Very versatile, plays PP/PK and good defensively.I have no idea what to make of McMichael right now as I haven't seen him play much. I'm an IB believer but it's hard for me to try and come up with what a possible package from MTL would look like. My guess is that a signed Evans would replace Matheson there. We could afford it this year by putting Barzal on LTIRSlafkovsky + Matheson + Mailloux for Dobson
Yeah, he seems like potentially a good match... would be weird to make such a huge trade within the division thoughHe had a hot start to the first 20 or so games to the season and then went cold shortly after, possibly due to being a first time father? Its ridiculous. Haven’t had a 70pt defensman since Potvin and Dobson did as a 23/24 year old. Now we wanna trade him awayOffensive defensemen are crazy. Dobson was "legit 1D of the future" last year.
Now there's this thread.
Caps will probably need to add a bit more value for this trade to work out since a good RHD is inherently more valuable than a good winger. We really need a Carlson replacement going forward if Chychrun doesn't re-sign with us.Yeah, he seems like potentially a good match... would be weird to make such a huge trade within the division though
Going hard after Chychrun was my offseason plan to mitigate trading Dobson lololCaps will probably need to add a bit more value for this trade to work out since a good RHD is inherently more valuable than a good winger. 4.8M for this year and next is too much???Not Matheson. Too much money and too much term for a 3rd pairing LD. Also not interested in Slafkovsky honestly.
For a 3rd pairing LD in addition to Slaf’s $7.8 for a struggling winger? Yes, it is. If we’re going to dump cap onto eachother, you can have Pierre Engvall.4.8M for this year and next is too much???
4.8M for what he brings.... he's a bargin. For a 3rd pairing LD in addition to Slaf’s $7.8 for a struggling winger? Yes, it is. If we’re going to dump cap onto eachother, you can have Pierre Engvall.
We already have our pricy 5D in Mayfield. can't afford him.4.8M for this year and next is too much???
I actually think the Slaf contract has the chance to look reaaaaally good in a couple of years when he's 22 or 23 and the cap is a zillion dollars. I'd take that chanceYou dont like Slaf contract, that's fair, but that has nothing to do with Matheson and your initial statement
The only thing complimentary about Pierre Engvall is the deference, and consideration he shows opposing defenders. All deals involving Islanders defensemen come with a complimentary Swedish winger named Pierre Engvall.
That's fair. Still Matheson's contract is far from being bad.We already have our pricy 5D in Mayfield. can't afford him.
