Bertuzzi + 2024 1st for Pulock as a base could work for both teams.
Fixed it:
so a pending UFA that the Islanders don’t need another of for a top pairing RHD? Let’s not. Now if you’re willing to include Willy Styles instead (signed at a respectable AAV), then there may be something.

What happened to Wahlstrom? I thought he was a hot prospect?
He’s got a fancy shot but he doesn’t do anything to actually make it a weapon. He reminds me of that kid growing up that would stand in the slot slapping his stick on the ground calling for the puck until he got it and shot.

The Canucks and Islanders won’t work when it comes to trades. What the Islanders would need, Vancouver isn’t moving for Pulock (for obvious reasons). We’ve tried this before though.
Why would the Canucks not move for Pulock if the islanders take back Myers and we give up some futures then a trade can work atleast from the Canucks side, I guess it's a matter of what the islanders want for him.

Your first mistake was dumping Myers on the Islanders. They don’t need to trade to downgrade the blueline and get nothing that helps the team. If it involves Myers, Garland or one of those other cap dumps, the Isles walk. The only thing the Islanders truly need at the moment is an actual 1st line winger who can play with Horvat and Barzal.

I mean are you guys trying to win or are you trying to re-tool because trading Myers for a year when his actual salary is 1 million but his caphit is 6 million is ideal in terms of matching the money, although I'd be willing to offer up a 1st, Kuzmenko, ++ I just don't know the specific islander needs.

They have a structure that can win now and are finally playing towards that. OP is moving him because he thinks a 34 year old can fill in for him. Like I said, the only thing needed is a true 1st line winger who can keep up with Barzal and Horvat. Lee doesn’t have the speed that can translate but uses his tools well.

The Islanders need to move Aho and Wahlstrom as well as cut ties with Matt Martin before they move Pulock honestly.

I don't see the reason to move Pulock either unless it's for a top line winger, but a top end offensive LHD wouldn't be bad either. Reilly has been a nice secondary offensive threat, but Dobson accounts for like 90% of the blue line offense. The Barzal and Horvat combo is looking good, but Dobson as the third makes it an excellent trio like in OT.

If the Isles had another Dobson skillset type of d-man (preferably LHD) then that player could really support and ignite the 2nd line where Engvall-Nelson-Palmieri have shown nice chemistry and is productive. Hanafin would be a pretty glorious fit, no? Trading Pulock in that deal would really change the dynamic of the defense, but a reconfiguration like that may be a better fit for this suddenly big and fast team - Engvall, Holmstrom, and Gauthier have upped the speed quite a bit. Just saying. A top end forward would be really nice though, but losing Pulock for one opens up a pretty big hole. Dobson can only do so much and asking him to carry around Mayfield and Bortuzzo/replacement is a lot.

What type of true top end LHD are you after? I wouldn’t move Pulock for Hanafin honestly. Not worth it from a chemistry point of view. It would leave too much of a hole on the right side. Mayfield makes too many mistakes when he plays more minute then he’s used to.
What Lou needs to do is offload some of the clutter on the roster for futures. Move out Aho, Wahlstrom and Martin for minimal returns (or in Martin’s case just let him rehab until the summer) and rock with what’s rolling. When Pelech and Pulock come back, you keep:
Pelech-Dobosn
Romanov-Pulock
Reilly-Mayfield
Bolduc-Bortuzzo

Bring up someone as the 13F and the team is set.

There’s 31 other teams who would enjoy that “albatross” of a contract. The only people who don’t like dmen like him, are the stat watchers. Who define everything by offensive production. The same types who were bashing Pietrangelo prior to last season’s playoffs. Right before he had one of the best 4 round performances by a dman, since Lidstrom in 2008.

You don’t trade players like him. If you do, you better get a landslide of a deal.

You mean you wouldn’t trade a guy like Ryan Pulock for a cap dump, b-tier prospect and a 3rd? Oh man.
