That's such horse**** it's not even funny.
On his own line, Nuge is a 40-point player. On his own line, Draisaitl is a 70-point player.
Also since you like numbers so much, Bruce McCurdy posted some numbers on Twitter:
For the first 17 games of the season, Nuge was with McD and posted a grand total of 3 goals. In the same time span, on his own line, Draisaitl went PPG.
The narrative that Draisait is dependent on McDavid is the biggest lie in history. As is the idea that Nuge is better than him.
The whole Nuge vs Draisaitl argument is completely pointless. They play different roles and have different strengths. But your post still shows how numbers can be used to mislead. In the first 17 games of the season Leon was indeed centering his own line and was at a ppg but 10 of the 17 points involved McDavid directly. Two more were with McDavid on the ice. Even though Nuge was actually on McDavid's line during this period 6 of his 17 points points did not have McDavid getting a point.
For the season Nuge has 21 points on which McDavid did not get a point, Leon has 18. Both players actually help McDavid when they play with him so its not like they both ride his coat tails and do nothing otherwise.
But the bottomline is: Why do we care? If either of these two guys were not actually producing things would be even worse.
