And yet people still say the Oilers should have taken him over Yakupov.

I'll take a guy struggling to find his game over a guy who is barely on the ice cause he can't stay healthy.

Come on. Yak is has shown no signs of being a competent top 6 NHLer. Murray has looked really good every time he's been not injured. We've been through this with Hall. Had a few freak injuries in his first 2 seasons, and everyone labeled him injury prone and a terrible pick while we Oiler fans saw how dominant he was when healthy. Then he had 2 healthy back to back seasons and finished top 10 in scoring both times.

I've seen enough of Murray to know that he's a really good bet to be a top pairing guy in the future, even if he does have more freak injuries than the average player. And I was dead set on the Oilers taking Yak in 2012.

He's had one injury plagued season lol. The injury he suffered last year is the same one had problems with this year. He played 71 of Columbus' 88 games (RS + PO) last year. I fail to see how that's "struggling to stay healthy."

He's had a rough year with injuries (knee he suffered last year in Toronto carried over until this year, then now high ankle sprain). But so has the team. I'm confident he'll come in next year and be fine.

Signed, someone who didn't want to draft Ryan Murray.

Didnt he also have shoulder surgery the season after being drafted? That would be two seasons. Of the last three. Just because it wasn't in the NHL doesn't mean it didn't happen.

That would make it more than one rough year, and I think it leads to legitimate questions about his durability. Whether it becomes more of an issue remains to be seen. It could just be a coincidence, but can you really blame people for wondering, if he's missed a significant amount of games in two of the last three seasons, since the draft?

Bubble wrap under his equipment! It's a shame he's had such a rough first yr but hope he gets healthy and gets back on track.
