Injury Report: Ryan Lindgren

I believe its 10 games he must miss. Tonight will already be his 8th game he's missed.
right but if we had ltir'd him and called someone up when it happened/made kane deal i'm pretty sure we wouldnt have the space to bring him back before the end of the season which i believe is more why they didnt bother as opposed to being certain it would be under the 10 games. could be wrong on that but the way i remember it being laid out was there was nothing to be gained by placing him on ltir in terms of using that space.

This will be Lindgren’s 8th straight game out. They should have just put him on LTIR for ten games. Would have allowed them to avoid having to dress only five defenseman for a few of the past few games. It’s all water under the bridge now though.

Lindgren was skating with the team at one point, now back to skating alone. I think it's clear a setback happened
I really really wish they weren't intent on rushing him back (which they clearly were from the start).

He could have been LTIR'd even for the rest of the regular season at this rate and we could have gotten another defenseman at the deadline with that money, since the Kane trade was completed 2 days prior to the deadline.

Drury - worse than Sather;

“The big news is that Ryan Lindgren is still out, missing his eighth straight game. It makes you wonder if they were better off just shutting him down for the season, letting him get healthy, and perhaps pick up an extra body or two at the trade deadline. Too late now, but this is looking like a bad mistake by Chris Drury and (presumably) Ryan Martin.”

Can't we still add him retroactively to LTIR and bring up a kid to get a look? Jones or Robertson.

But this org loves Harpur for some reason

I don't think LTIR for the rest of the season was ever an option. Why have him miss the entire season when he can still play the last 15 games or so? Players do need time to get back in a groove after being injured. They could have LTIR'd him for the minimum 10 games and brought up a replacement instead of playing shorthanded for 4 games but I honestly think they thought he would be back earlier. He has missed 8 games. I'm hoping he is back very soon.

I mean if they genuinely believed he'd miss 4-5 games or whatever and he ends up missing 8, that really sucks given how thin we are and the cap situation, but it's not like some kind of criminal mismanagement.

Even if they had up Hajek or Jones, I don't know that much would change. Hajek just isn't good, and while Jones can do a lot more with the puck that Harpur, I don't think he'd help much with the defensive breakdowns we've been seeing. Plus I don't think they really trust Jones at this point.

He hit the boards very hard ...watch his head bounce off the boards . If he does not have concussion problems from that hit...I would be very surprised . Maybe after he started skating and as such things flared back up ? That would be my bet .

Agreed. The games they played with 5 defenders don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. The games they’ve played since likewise don’t matter, because Hajek, Jones, and/or Robertson are not a material improvement on Harpur.

The real issue is whether Lindgren should have been shut down for the remainder of the regular season and, if yes, whether the Rangers missed a Kucherov-like opportunity to improve the playoff roster by parking Lindgren on LTIR for the remainder of the regular season before the TDL and acquiring another defender who is better than Harpur and the Hartford guys. If Lindgren continues to miss games into April, it'll be a poor look for team doctors and Drury. One thing is for sure: "day-to-day" means nothing from this club.

Hopefully, Lindgren's injury isn't an injury which will linger for the rest of this season assuming he can play because it's been a while and day to day is becoming three weeks this Saturday and/or doesn’t require surgery after the season. Fox looks lost without him.

I am happy they are being extra cautious with him. Shoulders suck and need to be 100 percent. He will be fine for the late season and playoffs I'm sure they are just being extra cautious.

I bet Gallant told Lindgren to take off the sling so that he can push the "day-to-day" spin-doctoring (pun intended) to the media.

IDK, did he suffer a setback? He was practicing or at least skating with the team and now he's doing work off the ice on his own. Seems like something happened.
