Ryan Hartman Match Penalty for "Attempt to Injure" on Tim Stützle

He deserved to have a lengthy suspension. He is clearly reckless with safety of their own player league-wide. What if he did the same to McDavid and got his spine or neck injury that could paralyze his body and the league lose his legacy because of it. He deserves every ounce of punishment thrown at him. What's worse is that after the replay, he was puzzled by the call and laughed it off as if he has done nothing wrong. When you see that face expression, he knew that he got caught and tried his best to weasel his way out of trouble by being dismissive and laugh it off of the very thought of the intent. Season-long suspension to send a message that this is not acceptable at all. What's worse, the coach's face reaction showed very disappointed of his antics on his way to the tunnel.

Shut him down, or history says he'll just hurt someone again this season
I am NOT defending him, but one of those fines was for a middle finger, and one of those suspensions was throwing a stick onto the ice/towards an official.

Still, too much, and he should get pretty well slammed.

He really could have killed the guy. If that occurred you can bet there'd be charges laid. I'd argue any attempt to injure should come with severe off-ice punishment in addition to whatever penalty the league believes is justified. Why is being on skates playing pro hockey a free pass for unproved assault?

It just takes one cities police department to decide a line has been crossed, press charges & the days of the goon tactics that the majority of hockey fans want see eliminated from the game would be finally over.
I mean this already has happened, see Marty McSorley.

It sounds like you are defending him… “I’m not a racist but…” proceeds to say racist things vibe

I'll be told I'm overreacting, I'd say this should be double digits easily. Clear intent to injure. This wasn't a hockey play gone too far in the moment. It was planned and deliberate. 10+, set a clear example to the league, this nonsense, these dangerous acts will not be tolerated. Before someone gets seriously hurt or worse.

I’m not sure that really helps his case with DOPS.. actually the fact that he threw a stick at a ref probably makes it worse
