If Morgan Reilly got 5 games for that nothing burger, Hartman should easily get 10 and I would not complain if it's more. Not a hockey play, clear attempt to injure and zero provocation oh and repeat offender. We will see.
You mean the one where he got a hissy fit and crosschecked Griegs head with his stick after the game was essentially over nothing burger?

Not a hockey play, sit him for 40 games without pay. I’m tired of seeing NHL players act like this. The punishment system in place is worthless. Nothing will change if we keep slapping on the wrist. Actually show that you take player safety seriously for once.
He has now received supplemental discipline 11 times in his career

  • 6 fines
  • 5 suspensions
He has been identified as a repeat offender 7 times in his career

  • 4 fines
  • 3 suspension
He has received supplemental discipline in 6 of his 9* NHL seasons

  • [ 2014-15 - no (*only 5 GP) ]
  • [ 2015-16 - no (*only 3 GP) ]
  • 2016-17 - no
  • 2017-18 - YES
  • 2018-19 - no
  • 2019-20 - no
  • 2020-21 - YES
  • 2021-22 - YES
  • 2022-23 - YES
  • 2023-24 - YES
  • 2024-25 - YES
He has received supplemental discipline multiple times in the same season 4 times(!)

  • 2017–18 (1 fine, 1 suspension)
  • 2021–22 (2 fines)
  • 2022–23 (1 fine, 1 suspension)
  • 2023–24 (1 fine, 2 suspensions)
  • * Every season he has gotten trouble, he did it again the same season, except 2020–21 and this season (so far)

Shut him down, or history says he'll just hurt someone again this season

yeah that's the one. Your hyperbolic description aside, dude was asking for something and deserved much more but if you actually want to be accurate and have a fair assessment - it was not an injury causing action (hit his arm first and stick rolled up to neck and head area). Didn't get hurt at all and Reilly had no history of dirty behaviour. it was a 2 minute penalty and a fine at most. But the Toronto Tax on full display and moronic Leaf haters ate it up with a spoon.

Dang, worse than I thought.

Neither fan base can look at this play objectively... both sides are bias. All of us should just leave it alone, we will never see eye to eye on it.

Regardless, Hartman should absolutely be gone longer than Reilly.

Since he got the misconduct (which is worth 1), I'm guessing the league will give him 9 more games on top as a re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-repeat offender. The list of teams who don't hate Hartman was already very short, it's good to see Minnesota fans have had enough of him, too.

this was a rough replay to watch! I'd incline toward a longer suspension in view of the egregiousness of the incident, and the prior history of the player. I'd honestly think this is 15-20 game territory.

I don't know if it's endemic to hf or something, but the word you're looking for is "biased," the adjective. Bias is a noun (can also be used as a verb).

Anyhow, I have no attachment to either team or either player. Hartman's move here really pisses me off as a hockey fan. Hoping they throw the book at him for a long-term suspension. I'm not holding my breath, though.

I haven't seen any of my fellow Wild supporters defend this asshole or this kind of behaviour, and many are done with him just like me. Is there any way the FO can terminate his contract over stuff like this? We already have 14,7 mil in cap penalty and don't need more of the same.
He just can't control himself like most adults can. He needs professional help.

Hartman can actually be a good hockey player, but dude is dumb as bricks and has the emotional regulation capacity of a maladjusted toddler. The league should throw the book at him and give him a massive suspension, so they’ll probably just fine him 5k instead

Could have killed a guy.. needs to be quite a few games for the suspension.
He really could have killed the guy. If that occurred you can bet there'd be charges laid. I'd argue any attempt to injure should come with severe off-ice punishment in addition to whatever penalty the league believes is justified. Why is being on skates playing pro hockey a free pass for unproved assault?

It just takes one cities police department to decide a line has been crossed, press charges & the days of the goon tactics that the majority of hockey fans want see eliminated from the game would be finally over.

The only person that ate anything was Grieg and it was a stick to the head. Nothing I said was hyperbolic.

Anyways Reilly was a moron and got what he deserved. Here's hoping Hartman gets what he deserves as well.
