Nice article on Greene here by Powers. Also worth noting, Powers said this about Dominic James.

@Raymond K. The Blackhawks have offered James an NHL contract. I believe he wanted to burn the year and play in the NHL this season and the Blackhawks weren't offering that, especially with them already having so many players jumping to the NHL. I'm not sure how much there is to criticize Davidson on that one.

At least they are keeping Greene. Too many picks too soon. Is James going to take a Rockford contract or hold out looking for a FA initial contract elsewhere?

That's not the issue at all. James wanted to burn the first year of his ELC as an overage 6th round pick. That was never going to happen. That wouldn't have happened with any franchise that had drafted him. He can go be butthurt in the AHL somewhere else next year.

would just think that a last place team would find a way to allow as many lotto tickets to see the ice as possible
The guy was a 6th round DP who had a "nice" NCAA career. Not sure why Dominic James thinks that translates to leverage to make demands. IMO, he should be thrilled to get a professional contract.

What is the projection for Greene? Bottom 6 forward?

Depends on if he is he a center or winger. I suspect he'll start in Rockford as a C.

His profile at BU is 1st PP unit and usually 1st PK and on the ice at the end of close games, leading or trailing. One of the puck carriers on the PP (Even last season with Celebrini). Good but not a great skater with no weaknesses. Covers a lot of ground and has little wasted motion. Takes good angles when defending in the neural zone as a center. I consider him more of a set-up guy vs goal scorer. Good size. Smart.

I'm not sure where to place him but at this point I'd say middle 6 potential. I'd be interested to see this Rockford line next season:
LW Oliver Moore(F1)- C Ryan Greene(F2)- RW Nick Lardis(F3)

You don't think Greene goes back to college?

The post is confusing because its a combination of Greene (C, 2nd round DP, BU) with a throw in about James (W, 6th round DP, UMD). It was James who wanted to burn a year.

For Greene, I hope he's a middle 6 forward, but bottom 6 is probably a safer bet. He's a solid all around guy but doesn't have a standout skill IMO. It'll be interesting to see how he shakes out.
