What we had to give up for Glass and Myers was an aging and ineffective Ellis. If the deal doesn't work out, the Preds can pluck someone off of free agency next year or promote another prospect to fill the holes just as effectively or more.
With Eichel, we'd have to give up so much to acquire him, that if it didn't work out the franchise is sunk for several years.
It would be different if Buffalo were at the point of trying to offload him for anything they can get, but they're reportedly asking for so much that it's not even a conversation starter. This is the key point that isn't talked about, it's not a case of Preds fans loving the current roster and hating Eichel in a vacuum, it's a real world risk/reward assessment.
