I gotta post in here, my alias demands it. I can still remember those 4 goals vs Philly. Or when he broke his leg vs Boston in like the 79th game of the season before the playoffs blocking a shot.

A warrior, a captain, Philly killer and by all accounts an amazing human being.

Rod Gilbert was a HHOFer. Disrespkt to compare him with Callahan.
But the whole point of the response is to show that not winning a Cup doesn't diminish you. Saying Nick Fotiu never won one doesn't make sense, no matter how beloved Nick may be.

One of my dad’s favorite players. Really unfortunate situation and I hope everything turns out ok for him after hockey.

Jesus christ, idk about you guys, but have you seen the people posting in the main NHL thread about this? They're all saying this is about Tampa saving money and Callahan is just faking this for $$$ and he's just at the end of his career, etc...like wtf is that?

People are ignorant. I mean you really don’t know the player if you think he is going to end his career just to help TB’s cap situation. He could have been traded with retention if TB was that desperate, or bought out and then sign a small contract with a number of teams to make up the difference in salary. Have to read the interview. Other than his back which he thought could heal, he felt good, and was ready to play even past this contract.

I think the biggest confusion to this is, if Callahan can still play, the answer is yes he can, but that he shouldn’t. He risks his back being really F’d up after his hockey career and will never be able to have a normal healthy life.

Admired Callahan.

My favorite Callahan moment came late in a game when he dropped to block a meaningless Zdeno Chara shot and ended up with a broken leg.

Unfortunate that the contract situation spiraled out of control.

Gutsy player who got everything out of his modest talent. Represented the sweater with honor.

A fond farewell to an important Ranger.
That was my least favorite Callahan moment and exactly when I started to question a long term commitment to him.

I admire the bravery but the lack of hockey IQ that displayed was a turning point for me.

If I'm the Rangers I put this guy in player development from day one. If you want a Ranger to be a winner and a ****ing warrior you want him to be influenced by Ryan Callahan.
I don't want anybody on our team ever playing like Ryan Callahan.

That would be like making Lundqvist our goalie coach with his "so deep I wipe my butt with the net" approach.

Yeah, it worked for Hank and it worked for Cally, but nobody else should ever do it.

That "butt in the net" approach is all Allaire.....When he first came up, he played at the top of the crease and angles. It's the first thing he changed in Talbot's game.
