New York Islanders: Ryan Bowness named assistant general manager, and director of player personnel.

If Darche is GM and Bowness is AGM and Director of Player Development, what exactly would Chris L do as GM of BP?

Maybe it's true that Lou extended Chris L, and maybe Botta is right that Chris L would be hired by other teams - maybe he's a good administrator, and it sounds like that's all that would be left for him to do if Darche acquires players and Bowness has all the player development authority. It doesn't seem like there's much in the way of hockey decision-making for him. So if they're paying him anyway, let him handle admin details to free up Bowness for hockey personnel matters.

Chris L has a private office in the Garth Snow Wing of UBS Arena

Chris L: “Can we offer a contract to Shane Prince for Bridgeport?”

Ryan B: “Who are you?”

Well for those that have a problem with Staple, Botta is less of a source.

That said first let's see Chris L get fired and then let's see not who hires him - But what role he has in a new NHL team.

I mean Marc Bergevin was running the Montreal Canadiens and when he was fired all he could get was "Special Advisor" to the GM with the Kings.

Chris Lamoriello wouldn't have any NHL job if it wasn't for his dad. And even then he ran an AHL squad into the ground. So because of who his dad is sure - He might get another job, but none of us should be surprised if his next title is "area scout" for the Bakersfield Condors.

You have used Botta as a source multiple times the last two months on here.

That is fine but you have felt more than comfortable using Botta as a source until it does not fit your personal viewpoints. Has Staple mentioned that Lamoriello would not get hired by a team since you now really only trust him as a true source?

Well you sure seem comfortable trying to angle things for you personal viewpoint.

I didn't see the report from Botta saying Chris L would get hired by many/all/any NHL teams. Personally don't care where he winds up - I just want him gone.

I don't think Botta would make things up and while he's not a reporter now, it's clear he has some relationships still in the Islander organization and makes logical conclusions. However when Staple does report something (not just throwing out rumors), he is more reliable than Botta.

That said, I more quote Botta for his opinions as to me those are mostly all on point. I think you're making more of this than needs to be.

Assistant Senators GM AND GM of Belleville for the past three years.

And before that....

He had Morrow's Director of Scouting job with the Penguins, having been a pro scout for the 6 years prior to that.

Very interesting hire.

He should have extensive knowledge on players from the NHL down to the ECHL.

Let this not become a pissing match about sources. Like Staple or not, he’s the one who actually has access to the team. Botta does not.

I had given you evidence to suggest that Chris Lamoriello would be hired by other organizations (to refute your claim) and you had come back with talking negative about a source that you yourself have used.

It is fine that you don't care where he goes now, but that is moving the goalposts MASSIVELY.

I wonder what made Bowness leave Ottawa? Does he have a prior relationship with Darche? He was assistant GM in Ottawa so it’s not really a promotion per se

How is it nepotism if he’s not related to anyone in the organization? His dad has no ties with this ownership or GM
Didn’t say it was for this specific job. Seems like a common theme of fans to complain about any descendent being hired in the sport.

His dad did coach for the Isles. His dad also coached for the Sens - his former organization.

Like I said, his dad has no connection to this ownership or GM.

If Katie Ledecky was hired as Assistant GM or head scout I’d see your point.

Well I think it's nepotism when anyone wouldn't have a certain level of job, or a job at all, without a family member pulling strings.

Look at it this way...Would Chris Lamoriello haven been working for the Isles (or the NHL at all) if not for his dad? If Lou ran a very successful accounting firm I think there's a good chance that Chris is a very average CPA right now.

Im talking about Bowness.
Chris Lamoriello is the poster child for nepotism
