New York Islanders: - Ryan Bowness named assistant general manager, and director of player personnel. | HFBoards - NHL Message Board and Forum for National Hockey League

New York Islanders: Ryan Bowness named assistant general manager, and director of player personnel.

This doesn't bode well for Lamoriello or Pellegrini.

Life comes full circle. Just like Lamoriello had weight and snow as lame ducks still on payroll going through the motions with no real say I suspect the same will be happening with chris and Scott Pellegrini.

This shows us Darche feels secure in his role. By all accounts Bowness is probably on the fast track to be one of the next new GMs, and is potentially a candidate to replace Darche should he fall out of favor - still Darche didn't shy away from hiring the best option available. Very good sign here

I have a feeling we might see him head up Bridgeport.

Rick Bowness son. So we’ll also have Rick as an unofficial advisor which isn’t a bad thing.

Darche to Chris Lamoriello: "I see your 'unofficial advisor, and raise you..."

This is why until Chris L. is fired it's concerning because there's no way, I mean NO WAY, you can look at the job he's done and think he shouldn't be fired immediately. I mean think about it...If Chris L. gets fired who in the hell is hiring him next and for what position?

Therefore the reasons why Chris is still here are...

  1. Lou still has power and is keeping him on (possible and concerning).
  2. Darche actually wants to keep him (I don't see how that would be possible, but would be very concerning).
  3. They're fully planning on firing him, but just keeping Chris on while they interview others and find his replacement (very possible and would be the only good reason he's still here).

It's entirely possible that they'll soon be naming another AGM whose roll will be the GM of Bridgeport. Plenty of teams have more than one AGM.

Chris Botta has said that Chris Lamoriello would be hired by multiple other NHL organizations. I actually want to say that Botta has said every organization but I do not remember exactly.

Absolutely possible.

I'm just saying that Chris L. should not be a part of this organization is any respect. If they already know they're going to get rid of him and just need time to find his successor no problem. However if he's still around the Isles/Bridgeport this Fall we have a problem.

I mean, Garth Snow was "around" for a little while after Lou was hired. If they name a new Bridgeport GM, don't be bent out of shape if they don't announce a Chris L firing.

Well for those that have a problem with Staple, Botta is less of a source.

That said first let's see Chris L get fired and then let's see not who hires him - But what role he has in a new NHL team.

I mean Marc Bergevin was running the Montreal Canadiens and when he was fired all he could get was "Special Advisor" to the GM with the Kings.

Chris Lamoriello wouldn't have any NHL job if it wasn't for his dad. And even then he ran an AHL squad into the ground. So because of who his dad is sure - He might get another job, but none of us should be surprised if his next title is "area scout" for the Bakersfield Condors.

Not bent into any shape. If this team wins a Cup I won't care if Chris Lamoriello is the first one who holds it up.

I just know that the more involvement he has with this team the less likely that is to happen.

I also have a friend who talks with Garth Snow and I can tell you he still received checks from the Isles after June 2018, but had zero to do with the club once he was fired. Hoping for an encore here.

If Darche is GM and Bowness is AGM and Director of Player Development, what exactly would Chris L do as GM of BP?

Maybe it's true that Lou extended Chris L, and maybe Botta is right that Chris L would be hired by other teams - maybe he's a good administrator, and it sounds like that's all that would be left for him to do if Darche acquires players and Bowness has all the player development authority. It doesn't seem like there's much in the way of hockey decision-making for him. So if they're paying him anyway, let him handle admin details to free up Bowness for hockey personnel matters.
