Here's a few clips from the game against the Czechs, which was in my opinion his best. He's having a good tournament so far.

Nice tackle on the ref there at 1:59

Btw, is Wahlstrom really 6'1? He looks closer to 5'11 to me.

Is he a C or RW? I've seen both...anyone seen this guy play? I know he was RW at WJC but is he a natural C or RW?

His CHL rights are owned by Cape Breton in the QMJHL. He’s from Maine which is apart of the QMJHL’s American territory for draft rights.

He’ll be drafted out the USHL/USNTDP so he wouldn’t be bound to the CHL/NHL agreement if he were to go the CHL route next year. He could play the following season in the AHL just like he could if he goes the NCAA route.

It doesn’t sound that’s in the plans however. At least not for now.

NCAA gives him the option to go pro after his freshman year. Whereas, it will be London or nhl for him in 19-20 season. No ahl option.

Not true -- if he waits until after the NHL draft to sign with a CHL team. The restriction is only for players who are under CHL contract when they are drafted. The Plymouth Whalers used to sign NTDP players this way -- J.T. Miller and Sonny Milano are two examples, both of whom left the OHL after a single season and played in the AHL.

Said it before and ill continue to say. Most underrated prospect in this draft.

I have him at 5.

I do not understand why he's rated so low. If I was a GM and had the choice between Wahlstrom and the much more highly rated Tkachuk, I would draft Wahlstrom. If he stays this low, some team is going to get a very nice prospect at their draft position.

Agreed more skilled than Tkatchuk

The release on his shot is one of the best in the draft. He's always looking to get open to shoot.

If he can improve his two way game, his passing and hockey IQ, he could score a lot of goals in the NHL.

The reason why I think some might have him lower, and I do as well is that some of these prospects aren't good enough in other areas to let their shot be effective. Because they can't keep up with the pace of the NHL game, they don't get the shots they got at lower levels where they were so much better than everyone else, and the areas they weren't good at didn't matter because those areas were still good enough against bad competition. I think Wahlstrom does a pretty good job of getting open at the junior level. I also think his size and skating will help him out.

I think there's the same risk with drafting Wahlstrom as there was with drafting Tippett last draft. He could turn into one of the best snipers in the league or maybe he won't be able to get shots in the NHL because the rest of his game isn't good enough.

I think he’s a strong candidate to do what Sonny Milano did, which is get drafted out of the USHL, go to the CHL and then enter the AHL at 19. I wouldn’t be surprised if he forced his way to a more desirable team though (Halifax most likely, St. John’s the other strong candidate for this is in a rebuild).

I’ve heard that he is in grade 11 and hasn’t fast tracked. I remember he was an old freshman at Shattuck when he was there.

I thinks he heads to BU with his boy Farabee...

he doesn't need to fast track though..
In 2014-15 he was still in grade 8 according to this article.

T.J. Walsh, a freshman from Shrewsbury, Mass., and Oliver Wahlstrom, an eighth-grader from Falmouth, Maine, lead the team with 121 and 100 points, respectively.

That would mean

2015-16: Grade 9
2016-17: Grade 10
2017-18: Grade 11

For whatever reason, he is behind the rest of his class.

Edit: Heres a link from 2015/16 where Shattuck lists him as a class of 2019 student

I don't believe that is correct. He is playing college hockey next year, reports are he is still going to Harvard as of 2 days ago - he is still sending in his application according to his family- I doubt he would be doing that if he wasn't where he needs to be.
