Wahlstrom just had the worst open net miss imaginable with one second left in th U18 finals. Perfect feed from Hughes. Amazing tournament for him and what a heartbreaker.

Pretty cruel that was, a great tournament and then couldn't handle the pressure when it mattered the most.
 
Maybe, but missing a last-second open net to lose the final is what will be remembered of his tournament.

I agree with this, but I also think people are too critical of his empty net miss. Its a junior hockey game, he'll be in the NHL in a season or two. I don't know if it'll linger, but this guy will likely be playing games that actually matter for something other than "fun" or "pride" in a year or two. Might linger more for a player who isn't going to make the big leagues.
 
heard he is reconsidering his options to either Univ of Mich, the QMJHL (rights owned by the ) or Boston University? anyone confirm this, be great thanks.
 
Where do you guys see him getting drafted. Which top 8 team.would.be a fit ?

Canucks will apparently go BPA but if its a close call at 7 i think thr Canucks will draft a Dman instead of Wahlstrom

Grades weren't good enough for Harvard. I heard he is also considering going overseas which would be interesting. Cape Breton has his rights for the Q, but not sure if he would still be required to sign with them.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Detroit draft him.
 
Cape Breton could trade his rights to a team of his choosing. I doubt he wants to play in the Q. The CHL is tough. The NCAA would be much more pleasant. Though, he may be wisely looking at playing professionally instead. Either in the AHL or in Europe. I think that would be an intelligent decision. He should get paid and compete against pros. I think that’s great security and great for development.
 
I'm not convinced that Wahlstrom is going to be a top line player. He seems like he is more of an opportunistic scorer, rather than a dynamic play driving scorer. It's all right being a opportunistic scorer, goals are goals, but i don't think he has good enough of a shot for his playstyle to translate to the highest level.
