RW Noel Gunler - Luleå HF, SHL (2020, 41st, CAR)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Gunler has scored twice in the pay few games. He is finally starting to get more ice time. To me he’s right there with the top Euro forwards in the draft.

I’m not ready to go nuts over him just yet, but I’m cautiously hopeful about him seeming to heat up this close to the playoffs.

That was to be expected. Him not being on the november roster is the real head scratcher. Same story with William Nylander in his draft year, never got the chance to make the team.

And people who don't watch him play use this as validation to say he's "not that good" or "has a bad compete level" etc. Noel Gunler is better defensively than and just as good offensively as Holtz and Raymond, is well-liked by his teammates, always gives 100%. I still don't understand why he wasn't invited to the WJC and we will never really know the reason behind it.

But to me, league play is more indicative of what a prospect can do anyway. And I still believe Gunler is going to be the biggest steal in the 2020 draft, if teams are really shying away from him for these arbitrary reasons

Sometimes national team coaches make dumb decisions. Remember when USA left Kyle Connor off their U-20 team? He was absolutely torching the NCAA that season.

Not really, no. He's a great prospect but a step behind those two.

Never seen him not getting invited internationally being brought up as a negative. If people are then they're indeed clueless.

Also, biggest Swedish steal will probably be Nybeck if teams shy sway from his height as they usually do.

I really like the progress Gunler has made this year. He's clearly a very smart player. I like his shot though sometimes it feels like he doesn't use it enough. His forechecking has improved a lot. Feels like he's elevated his game this year especially after January. Sadly he's gonna slip lower than he should because of a lack of WJCs.

Nylander was picked top-10 despite not playing in the WJC

I wonder what a lot of mainstream analysts had him at. Because seeing a lot of the rankings Gunler is being criminally underrated.
Nylander was ranked #11 in McKenzie's mid-season draft list in 2014. Gunler was ranked #27 this season.
