Lmao tell me you don’t understand hockey. Takeaways are a pretty reliable indicator of engagement in the play off the puck, and there’s a reason that Selke winners are almost invariably among the league leaders in them - Bergeron, Datsyuk, Kopitar, Toews, etc all led the league in takeaways at different times, and in any given year, the best defensive players takeaway/giveaway ratio is virtually always well above 1.
Michkov’s amount of takeaways through 74 games is ridiculously low, even considering his limited minutes, and his takeaway/giveaway ratio is comically bad. That, along with his number of hits being abnormally low as well, show that his play, effort, and engagement defensively and off the puck is putrid, and virtually non-existent, which matches the eye test. He is absolutely useless without the puck on his stick, and the eye test and stats support this.
Fancy “advanced metrics” don’t tell the whole story because he’s played limited, sheltered minutes for the majority of the season. Hilarious how you don’t seem to grasp this concept
