So happy for Matvei Michkov, he is doing great.

He has been through a lot, his fathers death, coming over to a different Continent, a different country with all the uncertainty and he has done a very good job.

Now that he is accustomed to the country that he is playing in and to the NHL, hopefully he does even better next year.

Yet he’s losing the rookie scoring race to a defenseman, and won’t hit the lofty heights that Michael Ryder reached as a rookie.

He’s having a Trent Hunter-esque rookie season.

Strong rookie season continues . Explosion next year with better line mates / talent surrounding him. Think a few fan bases need to rethink their victory laps . An average pp w average time on ice and he’s pushing ppg .

Sure he could’ve been like Bedard - skewered for completely absent 2way play. Instead he’s a pretty dang good checker, as displayed on the forecheck today when he took the puck from 2 opponents

Torts was so good for him to go through. He’ll never get tougher coaching in his career and will be so much better because of it.

This is such a good an important point. He’ll thrive from here on out.

I believe the 4 nations break helped a lot. He needed that rest.

Torts was so good for him to go through. He’ll never get tougher coaching in his career and will be so much better because of it.

Torts is really nothing after surviving Rotenberg. That dude wouldn’t even play him on his KHL team.

Would be nice to see Michkov get an actual real coach for the first time in his professional career.
