No one ever said that, but there’s a flyer fan in this very thread comparing Michkov to Crosby. Maybe you should worry about that instead.
Actually,
"stylistically" Michkov is not far from Crosby. Both are on the shorter and stocky side with incredible lower body strength and puck protection skills.
Both shoot left. Both have an elite hockey IQ and quick hands. Both are equally as dangerous scoring as they are passing. Both are willing to go into the dirty areas to create. And, both are willing to back-check diligently. Neither player is a speed demon but they are fast enough.
So, style-wise, there are
many similarities. That said...
Sid is a center and has a more explosive package to his game. He is also a legendary leader and champion and will go down as an all-time great. We need to keep that in mind when comparing a 19-year-old Michkov to an accomplished vet in Crosby. I remember watching baby Sid like it was yesterday... and the similarities in style are uncanny.
Regardless of the
similarities in style, expecting Michkov to achieve the same level of dominance Sid has is unfair and highly unlikely.
However, Crosby's career year was 120 points and I do think there's a chance Michkov will eclipse that with his best season down the line.
Even though I see some similarities between Michkov and Crosby, in terms of style, Michkov reminds me most of a hybrid of Kaprizov and Paul Kariya.
