He's tried that play a lot of times without it working. Happened to work this time. Not a big fan of this player, he has a few tricks and knows where to go, but the skill and dynamic ability are not there to be a star that some think he can be. Not sure if he ever gets there. He's been getting points but he's not getting them in a way that translates into sustained success.

Met him in person. And NHL is known for that. They listed Kovalchuk at 6'3 aswell and they guy is 6'1

I'm starting to see why Matvei fanbois are so sensitive. Poor guy is criticized for a play on which he scored. I guarantee you he saw an opening. That's what special players do.

You can't only look at the results to evaluate whether a play was good or bad. You can make a bad play and get rewarded, and you can make a great play and get punished for it.

You can believe what you want, but in 3on3, I don't think that that's a good play. It's great that it worked out, but when you play the percentages long-term, taking low% shots and giving away possession in 3on3 is not a play with a positive expectation.

Also, not a single player can aim their shots accurately enough to consistently take advantage of such openings, whether they see them or not. Of course, you'll see all the highlights where they worked, but you won't see the highlights where they hit the goalie's crest or missed the net instead.

What was the quote. The more I shoot the luckier I get ? And from quite a well regarded hockey player. More needless derision from some who are quite horrified by the prospect of seeing a talented kid doing so well already confounding their expectations. Expectations not made with any logic but antipathy & phobias thrown in.

Malkin looks taller but it all depends how they are standing. OV could be slouching over or something

He was all alone at his favorite place, and Zamula saw him and shot at him for an easy goal. But unfortunate ricochet led to Zamula's goal instead.

The OT winner was a bad angle so we can throw that in the garbage. I saw him cherrypicking for a goal against the Sharks so both it being against the Sharks and the cherrypicking means we can throw that in the garbage. He had a PP assist to Konecny (an actual hockey player) that game too so we can throw that in the garbage because powerplay.

Basically we shouldn't think anything of this player and I'm pretty sure he needs to go back to Sochi to develop more. Just IMO though. Don't quote me. actually just forget I ever said anything, I sure will.
