Smaller, superstar wingers of the past 20-30 years:

Kane
Panarin
Marchand
Kaprizov
Gaudreau
Kucherov
Bure
St Louis
Fleury
Kariya

Do you see Michkov being as good as these players, not as good, or better than all?

And have I missed any on this list?

Wasn't he locked at 2, until the Russia factor and war clouded everything?
I think so, but that was also over a year ago. A year before the 22 draft wright was locked in at 1 and was also carrying the generational label.

Not suggesting that Michkov fell off like wright did, but things change rapidly during a draft year

Before Russia ban most people had him at 1 slightly above Bedard as he performed a bit better head to head

32 Thoughts

- Friedman calls back to how last week it was thought Michkov had preferred teams in mind. He says we now know that was 100% true. Michkov indicated he wanted to go to a market where the team mattered, the team was popular, and they had a chance to win.

- Friedman says he knows fans haven't been happy with ownership, but Michkov saw it as a stable ownership that spends money and is dedicated to winning.

- Flyers wondered "Is this too good to be true?" after the Voorhees meeting, so the Flyers scheduled a 2nd meeting in Nashville. People who attended the Nashville meeting, but not the Voorhees meeting, were convinced that Michkov was serious about Philadelphia.

- Friedman thinks the Flyers tried to trade up.

- Friedman invokes the "The Soviets are leaving the ice" story, and said he heard from people "Is Michkov aware of [that story?]" So Friedman asked someone who knows Michkov if he is aware, but they weren't sure if Michkov is aware and plans to check with him.

- Thinks the Flyers were surprised that nothing scared him. Not Philly, not Torts, not the rebuild.

- Philly has been disappointed with how much has leaked, but the Flyers happy to keep this under wraps and are excited about the fan response

Many thanks for summing it up. It's hard to find fault in AZ and SJS for not drafting him. While it bums me out, I'd rather talent come to the NHL instead of prolonged contract drama.

Philadelphia will be able to forget Patrick and O'Brien. It's like they got a new 2nd choice player. The next generation will take a long time to build. Gauthier is potentially a very complementary element of Michkov.

There are more and more players 180cm and under. 10 in the 1st round are. Despite the policy of advancing tall players in the lists.

Now you have Bedard, Cooley, J.Hughes, Raymond. Even among the defenders, you have Makar, Fox, Q.Hughes

I can't take a video seriously when the narrator uses the phrase "cuck the washington capitals"
The rumor is real since the player claimed it.

Stupid theories of Michkov wanting to sign until 2028 or Putin wanting to lock up Michkov in Russia will age very badly.

Yeah I'm just trying to gauge the feelings on what his supporters feel his career would be. Sustained prime Pavel bure? Better than MSL and or p. Kane? Or are the Expectations more tempered towards a panarin or kaprizov.

The second part, I simply meant that only idiots use the word "cucked" in that context and I refuse to give them any of my time.

OV does a lot more than score. He’s a heavy body who can change a game with crushing body checks or knockout fights.
Michkov is a great player. But he’s a different player than OV.
Oh boy that’s not what people said from 2005:2017 lmao.

Seravalli on Nasty Knuckles: (@ 19:02)

- He checked in with the league on Thursday and confirmed that a buyout of Michkov's contract is possible, but the league would need some proof to see that his contract was satisfied.

Maybe we see Comcast flex it's financial muscles. Not that I am in a particular rush to get him to Philadelphia.

Wasn't there some rule about how the team (it's owners) wouldn't be able to pay for the contract buyout?

I could be wrong, but I read that on here a few weeks ago.

I was just mentioning that on the Flyers board. Another Flyers podcast said something similar to what you believe too, so there seems to be some conflicting information floating around.

But if Seravalli says he is hearing a "Yes, it is possible to buy out his contract" from the NHL, then I will take Frank's word for it.
