Fantilli is a more complete player who plays defense and has a motor
Carlsson is bigger and has a famous name

In this case the “russia factor” is his contract. It runs through the 2025-26 season.
That’s a lifetime as it pertains to job security of an NHL GM.

The answer would be yes to the Russian factor in my opinion. If he plays all year in the CHL the size arguments go out the window the same way they do for Bedard.

Doubt Fantilli or Carlsson can have an impact next year i think they should even keep Carlsson in the SHL for one more year

Frankly the whole thing is stupid, Michkov should not drop past 2nd let alone out of the top 5, he's closer to Bedard than he is Fantilli in talent and while waiting for him will suck, he clearly wants to play in the NHL and his timeline will fit the rebuilding teams.
