A complete mystery. Kravtsov was playing in KHL while Podkolzin can't even crack the VHL.

Podkolzin's the most mysteriously overrated prospect in years.

Context is important. If Kravtsov was on SKA, in no universe would he have been a KHL regular his draft year either.
Furthermore, unlike Podkolzin, Kravtsov was cut from the WJC team his draft year.

That's cool and all, but does not justify poor performance at both VHL and MHL.

Kratsov was considered a riser all year to get to 9, and Pod is a faller that projects to be around 6-10 now.

I think by definition Pod has been in the spotlight more as a consequence.

KHL is certainly a bigger platform to be viewed from than the MHL or VHL.

Both of these points can be true.

True.

But again, it's not like either came out of nowhere. Both started the season firmly on the top 20 radars for draft-nerds like us. At which point, I feel like it's more of a question of whom you actually make an effort to check out...and checking out a kid playing in the KHL is easier than checking out a comparably ranked prospect playing in the MHL*. As we saw with Denisenko & Kravtsov last year.

*not saying Pod & Krav were comparably ranked, just that both should've been on people's radar's and the KHL is much easier to access if you're going to make the effort to watch a prospect anyway.

How? MHL games are freely available on Youtube for anyone. Don't even need to subscribe to anything. You just watch. This is objectively false.
I love this myth
Do you think MHL is a stronger u20 league than CHL?

And they're not put up as regularly/promptly as are KHL matches *shrug*

What do you think is a good goal pace for a debut MHL season? I only ask because Pod scored more than a goal every 2nd game...8 goals in 15 MHL games...which you decided qualified as a "poor performance." So I can't help but wonder what he would've needed to do to have had an "adequate performance" in your eyes.

Would he have needed to match Kravtsov's goal every 3rd game (15 goals in 46 games)? :sarcasm:

Huh?

So how many matches are missing, exactly? Tough to discuss things when you keep posting false information.

u18 MHL seasons, huh? Podkolzin's PPG isn't even in the top 100 all time. Yes, Kravtsov scored less goals per game, but far more assists per game and had a significantly higher PPG, while being younger. But hey, I'd also remind you that I'm not exactly a Kravtsov fan.

We get it. You have an agenda to push & are going to continue ignoring anything said that doesn't confirm your position that you can't just move the goalposts on again...it just gets really tiresome when you keep repeating "arguments" that have been explained to you, at length, in this very thread, multiple times already...only for you to ignore them each time until your next round of propaganda :dunno:

I believe he has the potential to be at least as good if not a better player than Kakko if his development goes well.

I'm really high on Podkolzin but I don't think he has that kind of ceiling. Kakko's hands & wrister are just on a higher level, and his playmaking is much more developed/refined. So even if Pod reaches full-Landeskog against the puck, while scoring 40+ goals next to a legit 1C, Kakko should still be a step up from there if he hits his ceiling too.

Can he speak English? Just asking because he's the only prospect who didn't do an interview with Sportsnet.
