Hey, the Wild didn't take him till the 7th. Let's not make them out to be geniuses, just lucky. I wonder if ANY team would've picked him if they hadn't?

?

Wild had 1st, 4th, 7th (sok) and 7th in the draft.

Could have take him in the 4th, but we passed him once.

I dont feel like the Wild were geniuses, it is just that all of the other teams were stupid. The fact that he dropped down from the 3rd to the 7th insane. I honestly was worrieD that he wasn't gonna be available at pick#73. He is gonna be a good one

Watching him for the last two years. Big league shot. shoot first pass second, however he should be this way with the shot. Can create his own chances however will not score many off the rush, not that many are scored that way anymore. Will need to be fed, does not go get the puck himself. Skating has improved but will never win many races. Saying that he is quick in small spaces to get the shot off. Has no clue or interest in his own zone and even the neutral zone. To play in the nhl he will have to be on the top two lines and PP specialist. May play in nhl, will be a very successful khler and we could see him many years at the world championships

Sounds like it's been a while since you last saw some KHL hockey. :)

Sounds like he needs to be in a situation where there is less pressure to score, and more to be a two way player. Unfortunately AHL is out of the question for next year. Don't know if the OHL has such a situation for him.

KHL, maybe? Would be cool if he got to play next year with Kaprizov, and then they both came over the year after, assuming things go well. Sokolov might be someone who prefers not to go back to Russia, though.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Sokolov the second Russian born player drafted by the Wild in a whileeeee (say, 3 centuries), after picking the not-so-well-known Kirill Kaprizov? do we see a new pattern here from the Minnesota organization? Did they finally hired a russian interpreter or something?

Guy just keeps getting better. 30G in the NHL is not out of reach.

Still a long way from this, he has solid NHL potential but he still has alot of things to iron out before he can even make the show, let alone score 30 goals.

I haven't watched him outside of the highlights, but my understanding was that he was pretty bad defensively and just lacked effort at times (though improved in both regards since last year). Even in some of the highlights I've seen he looks like a floater. He's got a long way to go.

Would be nice to have him and Kaprizov both make the NHL squad at the same time, though.

I don't know about team; but I would have seriously picked him in the 3rd.

Now, I'm happy with Green, I was just a huge fan of Sokolov for a long time.

Who knows, he seems like someone who was red-flagged by multiple teams for something (rumors from work ethic to injury concerns). Considering where he entered the year, and even the opinion of him was pre-draft, I wouldn't be surprised if multiple scouting directors when making their draft boards just outright said he was undraftable. That is usually what has happened in these cases.

he's interesting for sure, nice season.

It will be nice to see him in the next WILD training camp, since miss last year's camp after surgery, another year in OHL might be good for him if traded to a good team.

hope he develop his playmaking and defensive skills, dont forget, Reid Boucher scored 62 goals in Sarnia few years ago.

Is it NHL or bust for him, or can he play in the AHL next season? Unless he's forced to play in the CHL next season, why on earth would you send him back to dominate kids again? Now that the Iowa Wild aren't a total dumpster fire like they have been the past three seasons, it probably makes sense for him to make the leap to the pros.
