RW Kasper Halttunen - London Knights , OHL (2023, 36th, SJS)

He's one of the hardest prospects in the sharks pool to rank because his high's (goal scoring ability; especially one timer) are so high but the rest of his game leaves you wanting sooooo much more.

If he becomes a 3rd line, PP specialist, perfect.
I think the battle is uphill for him even there. He won't be a very effective PP2 specialist, so we have to consider where he'd sit on PP1. We already have Smith to sit on the left half wall and Celebrini on the other flank. We either have Schaefer or Dick running point. Misa or someone like Eklund/Toffoli down low.

Do you move Smith to the bumper, or like Marner he runs point (I don't like it)? We have such a glut of forward talent coming that Halts probably would be PP2, meaning not a lot of chances to shine, maybe 3-5 zone entries/setups per game. Meaning, he has to have a MUCH improved regular game to make any lineup. I'm cheering for him but I'm also not expecting it.

How will you see or predict the top6 or even top9 lines going forward for these 2-3 upcoming years.

I also don't get why you can't have a player in a top9 role and the first PP. Laine when healthy is exactly that kind of a player. Tolvanen and Nyman other possible ones further down the road. Obviously depending on which players are playing together, chemistry and so on.

I thinmk we'll either see Celebrini-Smith as 1C-RW1 or 1C-2C. Depends on what happens at 2 in the draft. If it is Misa then we probably see Chernyshov-Misa-? or Ekulund-Misa-Cherynshov.

I'm not sure that Haltunen has the necessary defensive chops for the third line. This is sort of the dilema with him. He's got a monster shot, but he disappears. He's like a poor man's Laine, which is great if they are engaged, buit no so great if they aren't scoring.

If he continues like this could there be a case of classing him as a playoff performer? At least at junior level?

He will never be a driver but if everything pans out I see him as a decent complementary role in mid6, probably top9 role and PP scorer. He will really need a playmaking player in his line tough. Hopefully the Sharks recognize that.
Oshawa might as well give him the key to the city cause he kinda owns that city
