I don't know if I've ever seen a play that makes as little sense as the one starting at 9:14. Just... how is that possible?

He reminds me from Barzal. Shifty and good strength on the puck. Can make room for himself with his skating ability and will punish if opponent overskates or is out of position. He doesen’t have Barzal speed but his agility is similar. He is bigger and has longer reach. They play different position but has some similarities in their games.

His game is perfect for NHL. Just hope he keeps developing.

I was referring to this play earlier in another topic. He dangles 2 defenders, fools 1 more, somehow wins the board battle and then with one single hand (backhand) makes a perfect pass to Kotkaniemi in the middle. We were watching this play on a rewind with some friends and at first it was like what the h*** just happened. After seeing that a few times we were just wow, unbelievable. That is the very definition of pure skill and had that play resulted into a goal it probably would have been the highlight reel of all highlight reels of this tournament. The last time I've been this fascinated by a Finnish prospect was the first times I saw Laine. Some NA'n hockey fans are probably thinking 'oh well another Finn being overhyped by Finnish fans', but in all honesty I don't know how you can overhype Kaapo Kakko. He's earned all the recognition if not more and I'm almost certain he is in for some great draft season come next year.

He is so amazing honestly. I was trying to come up with an NHL comparable myself and one that did pop up to my head was Patty Kane. Not saying he will be as good, but there's something similar with his combination of amazing hands, vision, strength on the puck and ability to beat defenders in many ways.

He is probably the most well rounded player from his draft, at least very close to be one. He is just a perfect package of everything.

Best forward prospect from Finland since Laine, I fully expect him to make some noise next year if he is given the opportunity in TPS.

This is who I hope the Avs are able to turn the Sens 1st rounder into next year.

Seems right now he could go anywhere from #2 overall to #7 or 8 overall which means it's a good chance to be right in the area where I expect the Sens to finish.

Having Rantanen and Kakko on the RW for the Avs for the next decade would be simply astounding.

He can challenge Hughes for 1OApick :)

I would not count out the possibility at least. While Hughes is great he does has flaws as well. It's almost harder to find ones from Kakko at the moment. Then again 1st or 2nd overall, doesn't really matter - you hardly can't go wrong with either.

Anyway, I would for once like to see someone coming into the league guns blazing at 17. Hopefully he has a great summer camp.

If Kakko was to have a chance to go #1OA, I imagine it'd be due to the first pick being held by a GM who believes in size. That's when they might go with someone big like Kakko over someone small like Hughes. Still, I have a hard time seeing Kakko going over him.

Something that's interesting to consider is that Kakko has several attributes of a top center and a team might be considering the possibility of trying to turn him into a C.

If his goalscoring carries into pro games, I don't see any reason why he couldn't be the best Finnish winger in NHL in the future.

It won't be easy but I think he has all the tools for that.

Really don't see him surpassing Laine though.
It will be hard for sure but not impossible, I think.

It's safe to say Laine has clear advantage in goalscoring between the two but I don't think there are many more areas where Laine is clearly superior to Kakko. Sure, being better at goalscoring is quite a big advange to have but when you compare the two, Kakko seems to be much better player without the puck than Laine. When you consider Kakko's overall package and how his playstyle is pretty much perfect for NHL, I feel like Kakko can become very close to Laine as a player.

Yes, I agree. Laine isn't a generational player but his shot is for sure. Kakko has the tools to get on the same level however, he seems like a better skater already.

Maybe Kakko will be what Puljujärvi was projected to be. Don't get me wrong, I still have hopes for Pulju, but he really needs to step up next season if he wants to become what was originally expected of him.

Finland is starting to become ridiculously stacked on the wings.
