Inconsistent player. Sometimes looks great, sometimes disappears completely.

Good, not great shot. Good, not great Skating. Iffy balance. Hands a bit clumsy. Slow/Bad Reads. Mediocre Playmaking. Don't see much IQ here. I'm a Meh.

Hemming is not reporting to Barrie Colts.
Options are TPS or Dallas.

Why would Barrie waste a pick on him if they knew he was likely staying in Finland anyway?

They probably couldn't get any players they liked to commit. Istead of drafting a player you're not sure if he's good enough you may as well take a swing at a big fish.
Those kind of gambles can work out as well and situations can change anytime. We saw that last season with Sudbury and Dvorsky.

Barrie had two open import slots and finding both suitable and motivated kids who can help you isn't always easy. Those picks do cost some money and Europeans are mostly under some kind of a contract. Depending on your reputation and standing it can also be quite a bit of work to convince kids to come over and play for you.

Appears that he has signed his Standard Player Agreement with Barrie, so he's going to the O!

Well, he's young and can play in the same league next year as well... I hope he works on developing his skills during these last junior years and that he can add extra speed and so on.

No matter how he's longer future looks like I do question his eventual participation in this years WJC's. I wouldn't be shocked if he gets the same treatment as, was it Aatu Räty or Lambert? Participating as a double underage prospect but not making it the year after.
I just can't see his role with his current production. Kiiskinen, Halttunen, Rautiainen, Miettinen and probably Uronen go before him as wingers. Both Helenius and Kumpulainen can play at wing as well if depending on how the coach wants it. And yeah, quite frankly he's not better than any of those options right now.
As lower options there are Vesterinen, Nurmi, Sinivuori, Kuusla (injured?), Jansson etc.

Also, last but not least, there are so many decent centers so there is a big possibility that some or one of the centers that are considered as better than Hemming could end up playing on the wing.
Center options are: Helenius, Kumpulainen, I believe Miettinen will play wing, Aatos Koivu, Hynninen, Saarelainen.
After them there is Ruohonen, Leppä and Loponen.
So my bet is that he doesn't make it amongst the top12 actually, not this year.

Went and checked my draft notes on him from last year:

"Big winger with some scoring instincts. 11+7 in 13 U20 games. Decision making questioned. Not very dynamic."

Too many red flags already. Kinda reminds me of Vesalainen, talent and size is there but missing the the drive to become an NHLer.
Vesalainen was more skilled at the same age actually. He could at least dangle other juniors. I remember seeing him in both u18 and u20. He could dominate at lower levels together with Tolvanen.
He could've probably had some bigger attitude problems on the other hand, or other issues than Hemming. Who knows.
But Hemming doesn't look talented at all imho. Not better than a single other player in the whole roster so far. He's been worse than fourth liners and hes been the most anonymous player for Finland so far.

He looks to me like Halttunen without the actual rocket shot.

Like he thinks he’s that big dog who has that type of Ovechkin shot and tries to play that game where he can just hammer pucks and do nothing else and it’s okay, but he doesn’t actually have that type of shot that maybe there’s a slight chance Halttunen has and virtually no one else does.

I swear each time they would rotate those two in that spot on the PP against USA that I would just look away at another screen when Hemming was in that spot because I knew he would do nothing threatening and when they put Halttunen there I would pay attention because I knew there was a chance he’d rocket a shot past the goaltender.
