14 y.o. kid who made a nice progress in recent months and in my opinion is the first legit name for 2028 draft from Slovak perspective.

Of course it´s a bit early and Bickos as a 2028 prospect can turns into the nothing easily but I´m a believer here. His bust probability is pretty low because he´s already complete player now and I love the way he plays - the positive impact for his team is very visible. He´s not an elite skater but skates well for sure, is a quality athlete (was former champion in swimming) and is pretty tall already. Sometimes he avoids physical contact but the logical reason can be he definitely needs to add weight yet. His another strength is his shot and finishing - he doesn't need a lot of shots to score many goals.

He plays for Ruzinov what isn´t very strong team. Bickos plays 1C there and isn´t surrounded by talent there in his line so he has to carry his team against the strongest opponents in the country. It´s not the best position to score the most points in the league but good for his development and learning how to become a leader.

At the international level he was successful on every tournament where he participated. For example last year in WSI U13 he led the scoring after preliminary phase or last month on prestigious Kings of Spring U14 in USA scored 8 goals in 6 games and played excellent hockey.

Strengths : shot and finishing, hockey IQ, positioning, all-around game, size, competitiveness

Room for improvement : skill level, puck protection, physical play

Stylistic comparision : Filip Forsberg

Dominik Martin Bickos - Stats, Contract, Salary & More

Overall, Bickos is a player of whom I´m high on. Especially in last months he was excellent and at the end of the season he gave a call-up to U18 league. In 2 games he scored 3 goals and was probably the best player on the ice. It was against weaker teams but still impressive for 13 y.o. against 16-17 y.o. opponents.

We still have almost 4 years to his draft so a lot can happen. But Bickos still has lots of room for growth and if his develompent will continue positively he can be a 1st rounder, potential is there. So I´m curious how this kid´ll continue in his path.

I haven't heard about this guy before but just looking at his stats he seems worth keeping an eye on in the coming years.

Yes I understand and that was actually main reason why I created thread for Bickos that early - because many people in Slovakia haven´t heard about him or didn´t realize how talented he is (even me just a few weeks ago). Because he´s much better than his league stats suggested.

Basically these 2010-2011 birthyears could be a very interesting generation they´re regularly playing the best tournaments on the world among their peers which is a must if you want to develop a top prospect. And not only that they´re playing - they´re also very successful there.

But what could be the problem? I like our 07 and 08 defensive core but after that we´re missing real quality defensive prospects in these younger birthyears so far.

I am afraid that 2009 ends up being just a slightly better 2006 unless they wake up and start inviting all the players from abroad.

If M. Valek moves to play with the 2008 group there will be no one left.

So I can see a similiar scenario where the 2010 forwards play for the 2009 cathegory the same way 2007 did for the 2006.

The sad thing is that 2009 was predicted to be the strongest age group by many.

We also don't know how many 2010/11 will decide to change a club and leave to Czechia, Scandinavia or North America.

I basically agree with all of this. The current situation with ignoring 2009 players from abroad is embarrassing and I´m not sure if Slovak hockey federation after Dravecky´s debacle is in position to lost more young talented players... :help: That's why I want to believe that it will be resolved somehow...

In that case I see 2009 birthyear as very incosistent. They have a good goalies and also attack is above average in my opinion - add some nice boost from 2010 group (Melicherik & co.) to possible elite prospects Ozogany and Valek and some others depth 2009 attackers. But one thing still remains, 2009 defence just looks awful either way.

I have played recreational ball hockey with this kid since he was about 9-10 years old. His father sometimes brings him to our games. Last time I played with him a couple of weeks ago I realized I could no longer keep up with him. He already has a harder and more accurate shot than me and anyone else from our group. We are just recreational players, but also grown men, while he is just a kid.

He is also pretty smart for a kid his age (hockey smart I mean).

I believe he is quite big for his age too and he just looks strong. He reminds me of Slaf :)
