No, not fluctuate, it has to go down in the A or up in the juniors over the course of the season.

Sample size and variance is exactly the reason why it does not make sense as of this point and time. Glad you agree, but not sure how you somehow still fall short of admitting your mistake there earlier. It's got nothing to do with the team.
His points per 60 will fluctuate. Not sure how that's shocking.

Anyway, I'm done talking useless stats.

The kid's picked up pace and has 8 points in his last 5 games in J20 Nationell and things are starting to make more sense. It took 13 games to rack up his first 8 points.

Osmanis will join the Latvian WJC team and will very likely play on the top line and PP1.

I already had him on my radar, because he has good stats in the Allsvenskan for a 17-18 yo.

I was waiting for him to play against the bests of his age group at the WJC, to determine if he was a fluke or a guy to reckon with..

Well, he's been a force for Latvia against Canada in one of the most surprising win in WJC history.

Afaic, he's about to seriously put himself on most NHL amateur scout's radar.

In my opinion, he's end of 1st/early 2nd round material...

2 points vs. Canada at the WJC tonight.

His vision and hockey iq is NHL-tier and that pass to Mateiko on the 1st goal was filthy.
Yep, clear second round talent for me. On the other hand. Hemming was drafted in the late first and Osmanis is a better player. Depends on the depth in the first round of course.

What do you think about Murnieks performance against Canada?

I think Murnieks was great, he had at least 2 decent scoring chances, he managed to create time and space for himself, his skating was clearly good enough to win puck races. He has the upper body strength to win puck battles and he won most of the face offs, which is not something I expected vs. Canada, especially seeing how Finland struggled against them in the opening game. He was noticeable and I honestly expected less of him based on his USHL numbers as well.

I'm impressed.

However, he was still a little raw around the edges. Draw a penalty early on, got a little overenthusiastic - things you would expect from a 16 yo making his debut at this level.

I really want to see how Murnieks fares against slightly weaker opposition where they can maintain puck possession for longer.

Yeah i' ll follow him with excitement against Finland and especially Germany. Good luck to you guys.

Must say I love the main color in Latvias hockey kits. That color between say purple and wine red.

Do you prefer this or do you like it more when you guys had black helmets and black shorts? I'm a material nerd...
