Speculation: Russo: Minnesota's Offseason Plan to Add Scoring

I think saying that 'this trade is not what Minnesota is looking for' is different than saying 'this trade is not a trade of players of similar value'.
Not wanting to trade a center for a winger or a younger player for an older player is fine. Pretending that this means that Rossi has more trade value than he has or that Rakell has less trade value than he has is what I'm taking issue with.

Not likely. Rakell will probably be outscoring Rossi for the duration of Rakell's current contract.
The benefit of Rossi is that he's younger and has more room to grow, not that he's as good as Rakell is in the short term.

It does matter, when comparing player values.
Do you think Rakell has similar value to Bedard too?

I think Pens & Wild don't match well as tradepartners as long as the centerpiece of a potential Rossi trade would be Rakell. Simply because of age, positional value and timetable both teams are in.

A similar counteroffer from Minnesotas side would probably be a deal including Zuccharello or Brodin or Spurgeon and a pick/prospect for Rakell. This is just an example for you Pens fans that the centerpiece of a trade needs to fit, regardless of pick/prospect as sweetener.

Rakell for Rossi does not work, imo.
This is something of a fair deal here, though I'm not sure that it works for the Penguins. Maybe Brodin would work, I do like him.
You're probably right that acquiring Rakell is not the best use for Rossi; the Wild should try to make a young player for young player swap with Rossi.

Brodin + a sweetener for Rakell sounds like a fair deal for me too. It fits better regarding age & positional value. I love Brodin and I'd hate to see him leave but you gotta give to get.

If Kap doesn't wanna resign with the wild I could see a trade like that happening.

insane to me how much they dislike Rossi.

I hope to god the Flyers are in on Rossi
Something around Rossi for Konecny makes sense to me. I don’t know that Philly would want to essentially be banking on a top 6 center duo of Luchanko and Rossi who are both mini

I personally don't see Luchanko as anything more than a 3C. I'd love to be wrong, of course. But your point stands, it would be a fairly diminutive center core.

Umn no. Brodin still is a complete stud who has more value.
Also, wild will absolutely not trade Kaprizov. They can't even negotiate with him until Late July or early August

Intriguing. Would need to know if Kap has intentions of signing long term or not.

Without him agree to sign long term Flyers will never do it... I doubt actually they will agree to the deal even if Kaprizov agrees to sign long term . But it won't happen anyway. If it's not Wild then one of NY teams for Kap for sure.

The second they can is on July 1st, so not much to figure out at this point in time
Well yeah, cant figure out offseason scoring today either. But if they get the indication that KK is leaving, they better start planning for McKenna shipping KK out asap for pieces vs offseason scoring.

Would Minny match an offer sheet for 9.1 a year? Comp would be 1/2/3. Not sure the Flyers should do it and lose their own 1st.
MN has oodles of cap space, offer sheets against them do not make much sense at all as they would only not match an OS if they think they are getting significant value. I doubt Philly would do it, if they did though, they are one of the teams where the pick value might be strong enough to let him go.
