ZHAMNOV? BYKOV? Kasparitis???
No SOKOLOV?
Someone shoot me.

(my initial reaction)

Brylin has more goals and points than Zhamnov... and even if that dosent matter - Brylin is a better 4th liner because he is a defensive specialist. Zhamnov is a disgrace at this point in time. Poor Brylin, should have made it... hopefully Zhamnov breaks something.

Who the **** needs 8 defencemen?! So far: Germany,Latvia, Kazahstan, and RUSSIA!!! Are you really planning to do as much defending as Latvia?!?!

Holly crap, Morozov or Korolyuk should have been there. Morozov lead the RSL in scoring the year all the NHLers came over. Korolyuk was amazing at Rosno Cup. Please agree with me that taking Bykov over Morozov was a travesty.

Not taking Sokolov I can stomach, Bryzgalov is the goalie of the futue and needs to feel like part of Russia and is more used to sitting on the bench so he can wear a suit and watch better than Sokolov.

I also hope Bykov breaks something and is replaced with a forward. Or even if he hurts himself during the Olympics I hope its a forward that comes off the taxi squad. Actually, name 3 forwards to the taxi squad: Brylin, Morozov, Korolyuk.

Tverdovsky wasnt suprising for me, yet we could have used him. Our last 4 defencemen in Tyutin, D Markov, Kasparitis and im assuming Bykov since I dont know him are all defensive guys. Bah, Im disgusted at these details.

Relax, as I was saying this is just Sport-Express PR games. Wait untill tomorow for the actual roster....

For all you guys predicting lines, isn't Malkin-Ovechkin implied??

Kovalchuk - Datsyuk - Kovalev
Ovechkin - Malkin - Afinogenov
Frolov - Yashin - Sushinsky
Kozlov - Zhamnov - Kharitonov

Does Sushinsky kill penalties? Or is he all offense?

Sushinsky is all offense. Kharitonov is somewhat of a defensive specialist although he plays offense with Sushinsky at Dinamo. He kills penalties.

Brylin should have been there to kill penalties, godammit... Bure and his close relationship to Zhamnov killed us.

Hopefully, that would be great.

I will personally make sure Bykov cant play through a nightime back alley encounter if he is on the team - Morozov or Korolyuk deserve that spot.

Bure and Zhamnov should really get a room. I feel bad for Brylin, 2nd time this happened to him.

I think that the forwards will shake down something like

Kovalchuk - Datsyuk - Kovalev
Frolov - Yashin - Afinogenov
Ovechkin - Malkin - Kozlov
Sushinsky - Zhamnov - Kharitonov

Who starts in goal, Khabibulin or Nabakov? Neither one has lived up to their reputations so far this season.

If this roster sticks, these look to be the lines:

Kharitonov-Datsyuk-Sushinsky
Kovalchuk-Yashin-Kovalev
Ovechkin-Malkin-Afinogenov
Frolov-Zhamnov-V.Kozlov

or

Ovechkin-Datsyuk-Kovalev
Kovalchuk-Yashin-Afinogenov
Kharitonov-Malkin-Sushinsky
Frolov-Zhamnov-V. Kozlov

and
Khabibulin
Nabokov
Bryzgalov

I hope it dosent stick though.

Hm, it's all over the news in Russia. Tv, Radio, I think it's pretty firm

Nope, it's all paste and copy from Sport-Express. The media is sensational, so don't buy it right away.

He'd be way better suited for the 4th line centre role than floater Zhamnov.

Zhamy is bad this year, but Chubarov sucks big time: was bad for us in the World Cup, was aweful in Dynamo last year and is almost invisible in Avangard this year

Of course it is copy and paste, what do you expect to have the list different from the original?

Nobody saw the original yet: you can't say that a piece of news is "firm" when the source is Sport-Express

Who the hell are they gunna convince into backchecking on this team? Heh, their a talented group sure, but this bunch will crumble when it REALLY matters.

I see your point. You want to see it on IIHF.com. Good luck on the update when it is day time in Switzerland.

Jee, Sushi is one of the best we have....

i was asking because i know he was with the Wild a few years back in the NHL, and if he is that good, i was wondering why he's not in the NHL anymore.

He didn't like the States, kept on saying he missed home. I think it's the common consensus now that Sushi is #3-4 in the Russian hockey hirarchy, behind Kovalev, Dats and possibly Yashin

Some of the younger players.

Ovechkin, Malkin, Frolov and others probably will work pretty hard.

While defense won't be the specialty, they can score with the best of them.

Because the RSL is a "better" league than the NHL, i mean better as more fun to watch/play surely not the level :)
And it's not that if a player plays in the NHL rocks and if doesnt play there sucks...

I read this thread to get a good laugh at what people think about Kharitonov

He was the best Russian on the ice for SEVERAL periods of play during last year's World Championships, logging a lot of minutes on the second line and penalty kill.

No way should he be the "extra" player for the bench or left off the team. He's proven he can excel on the large ice surface.
