Malkin worked well with Afinigenov at last years World Champs IIRC.

Yep, last year there was a line Ovechkin - Malkin - Afinogenov, but I think Krikunov may go with Kharitonov - Malkin - Sushinsky line since it was succesful at Rosno cup.

Korolyuk isn't named. The went with 8 defensemen and 12 forwards.

My bad. I had it as my prediction a while back;

Ovechkin - Datsyuk - Kovalev
Kovalchuk - Malkin - Afinogenov
Frolov - Yashin - Kharitonov
Kozlov - Zhamnov - Sushinsky

The Ovechkin - Datsyuk - Kovalev line will absolutely dominate. I can't wait to see these 3 players together on international ice.

did any of you watch the world championships last year?

Ovechkin-Malkin-Afinogenov were together as one of the back lines. No reason to think Ovechkin would replace Kovalchuk on one of the top lines.

Hahaha, you must be really naive to wait for IIHf to give you all the breaking news.
I'd rather have reliable news than breaking news.

Ok, guys, you got to calm down. Rushockey copied this from Sport-Express, and those guys are known for their sensetionalism. In fact they say on their web-site that this roster is given after "consultations" with the players.

If this is the roster after all, then going with Kharitonov, Zhamnov and especially Bykov is rather questionable. But I don't buy it. I don't believe Bykov will be there.

zhamnov is good, seriously i just dont think hes happy.
Well, all I can say is that he's been terrible this year. No goals at all.

Other than him, I'm very scared of this teams offense.

They're contenders IMO.

ZHAMNOV? BYKOV? Kasparitis???
No SOKOLOV?
Someone shoot me.

(my initial reaction)

Brylin has more goals and points than Zhamnov... and even if that dosent matter - Brylin is a better 4th liner because he is a defensive specialist. Zhamnov is a disgrace at this point in time. Poor Brylin, should have made it... hopefully Zhamnov breaks something.

Who the **** needs 8 defencemen?! So far: Germany,Latvia, Kazahstan, and RUSSIA!!! Are you really planning to do as much defending as Latvia?!?!

Holly crap, Morozov or Korolyuk should have been there. Morozov lead the RSL in scoring the year all the NHLers came over. Korolyuk was amazing at Rosno Cup. Please agree with me that taking Bykov over Morozov was a travesty.

Not taking Sokolov I can stomach, Bryzgalov is the goalie of the futue and needs to feel like part of Russia and is more used to sitting on the bench so he can wear a suit and watch better than Sokolov.

I also hope Bykov breaks something and is replaced with a forward. Or even if he hurts himself during the Olympics I hope its a forward that comes off the taxi squad. Actually, name 3 forwards to the taxi squad: Brylin, Morozov, Korolyuk.

Tverdovsky wasnt suprising for me, yet we could have used him. Our last 4 defencemen in Tyutin, D Markov, Kasparitis and im assuming Bykov since I dont know him are all defensive guys. Bah, Im disgusted at these details.

any particular reason why Maxim Sushinsky and Alex Kharitonov are on this team? i'm perplexed.

Sushinsky should be there, he deserves it. Kharitonov is his club linemate and linemate at the Eurotour Tournaments in which the Kharitonov-Malkin-Sushinsky line impressed and thus got to go to the Olympics.

Individually he shouldnt be there, he is there for chemistry that Kharitonov fellow.
