Lol. Even Reimer, in Toronto, had better statistics, than both Varlamov and Bobrovsky have in Columbus and Colorado.

We could take Allen, Luongo, and Dubnyk, and it would still be better than what Russia's having.

Varlamov - .914 Sv% ; 2.74 GAA
Bobrovsky - .911 Sv% ; 2.65 GAA

Luongo - .925 Sv% ; 2.25 GAA
Allen - .921 Sv% ; 2.25 GAA
Dubnyk - .918 Sv% ; 2.36 GAA

....and btw...

Crawford - .928 Sv% ; 2.23 GAA
Jones - .917 Sv% ; 2.32 GAA
Fleury - .922 Sv% ; 2.34 GAA
Elliott - .929 Sv% ; 2.14 GAA

In Sv%, from goalies with 30+ games, Canada has its goalies at 1st, 2nd, 6th, 8th, 9th, and 10th position in TOP10. Russia's first is Varlamov as 23rd.

In GAA, from goalies with 30+ games, Canada has its goalies at 3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th position in TOP10. Russia has Varlamov at 27th. Bobrovsky with 27 games would be 25th. All that without Price who won the Vezina and Hart Trophy last season.

Canada is having the best goaltending in the world right now.

It is probably be even worse since we will play EVERY single game at home under NHL rules. That tournament is a joke.
The Vancouver olympics was far more watchable hockey than Sochi. In fact, "watchable" is an insult. It was great. Also, I can't remember the last time Canada played boring on NHL ice.

Russia's forwards are in a sweet spot of sorts with Malkin and Ovechkin still elite as a new generation of stars emerge. Very dangerous. The goaltending is competitive with top teams. The defencemen are terrible though, and Russia hasn't shown an ability to hide that tactically. Competitive team, obviously not the strongest.

Russia's top end Goaltending trio of Varlamov, Bobrovsky, Vasilevskiy is probable the best in the tourney (Canada is the Best if you go by duo- Holtby + Price).

Vasilevskiy is projected to win multiple Vezina's, could already be a number #1 goalie in the NHL on another team at 21 years old only.

Probable gonna be the number #1 goalie for Russia heading into the 2018 & 2022 Olympics. He is the most stable of the Russian goalies also.

Agreed. Bobrovsky has a weakness closing up his legs that more and more teams are exploiting. I think Vasilevskiy has more natural talent.

Saying Russia is the best team is equally as unjustifiable as saying that they are the 6th best team!

Hate to break it to you, but only one goalie can be used at a time. If you have to use your third goalie, well then your tournament likely ends pretty quickly. Having one great goaltender is more valuable than having three decent ones.

There's no question that Russia is more stacked at the forward position than it's ever been.

-Ovechkin-Malkin-Radulov

-Panarin-Kuznetsov-Tarasenko

-Kovalchuk-Datsyuk-Kucherov

-Nichushkin-Anisimov-Yakupov/Semin

Defense...not so much...which has always been their weakness.

Markov-Orlov-Kulikov-Medvedev-Marchenko-Nesterov-Emelin-Tyutin

Yakupov/Semin will not play for Russia

Mozyakin, Shipachev, Gusev and Zaitsev more interesting players

Is there much interest in Russia for the World Cup? Or is it widely seen as an NHL joke?

I would think Russian attention would be more focused on the WHC in Moscow and St Petersburg

There are at least 45 people who seem to have cared enough to click on a VK poll.

In a country with 145,000,000 people.

Well, in their defense, and on that site, a hockey fan would have a difficult time finding a relevant poll with all the porn that's on there.

True. Also applies to the Internet in general.

That's your opinion but Vasilevsky is projected to be the best goalie since Hasek - only 21yo

By someone credible or is that just your opinion? They don't even play the same style to make that comparison let alone challenge for a top 3 goalie of all time.

Samsonov is just as good as him I think anyways and Mrazek is better than both (and actually czech).

What the hell, I swear it was you who posted a thread saying Russia is the weakest out of the Big 6 a few months ago. Now you are saying the exact opposite.

The strongest team will be Canada and it's not even close.
USA can match the depth, Sweden the defense and Russia the superstar players, but that's it.
Also, why do you create so many Russia-themed threads.

He couldn't of. His account was made in December
