I understand the Russia/Belarus suspensions. I do.
But like previously stated, lets hold everybody to the same standards.

When double standards exist, the IIHF becomes nothing more than a political entity pushing certain political agendas over others. The main focus ceases to be about hockey all.

Very very good and right decision. Also its just formality it will be soon announced that Russia will be out of Olympic hockey also. Olympic commitee wont go againts IIHF's will in this and Russia isnt getting team's in any team sport in Olympics. Not even under neutral flag in team competitions of invidual sports. Hopefully RUssia isnt getting back after war is done for years it would be rightful to keep them out atleast couple years after. for example if war ends 2026 spring they could get in 2029-2030 typic. Not before some time has passed and they have behaved for a bit. Personally i would think 5-10 years would be fair but couple years would be ok.
I understand your blind hatred towards Russia, but are you sure you understand the concept of sports outside of politics? Banning U20 and U18 teams because of non sports related reasons is crazy as it is

Seeing as this is a thread that contains a bit of a hot potato...I have to ask something that has been gnawing at me.

If Trump makes a play for Greenland and/or Panama Canal and/or Gaza Strip using military force.....how will the IIHF and IOC respond to that?

There are a ton of parallels to what Trump is threatening and what Putin has done.

Mods -- I ask this question purely from a hockey sense in terms of International Competitions and my intent is not to inflame political debates.

While I understand the thought process, I don't think mixing politics and sport is a good thing at all, I just don't see how such a decision is doing anything good for Ukraine

They will do nothing of course, the Olympics could be in Asia and they will structure many of the biggest events like the 100 meter dash at like 9 am local time in order to capture U.S. audiences. I wouldn't be shocked if IOC started scheduling the Olympic hockey games for like 3 am in Italy so U.S./Canadian viewers could watch at prime time.

And there in lies the problem of injecting morals or ethics into decisions regarding international sporting competitions. Entities like the IOC and IIHF play lip service to the moral and ethics crowd (I am included in that) while all they actually care about is money. A time may come where they have to put up or shut up the way Trump keeps talking.
