Well, I just listened to the latest episode of the Hockey PDOcast and had a lovely time hearing the hosts gush about how great Barkov is, and how the Panthers remain the best team in the league - "It's the Panthers' world and we're all just living in it". Music to my ears...

Listen 31 mins in:

PS. The way they were talking about Barkov made me realise that crushing on Barkov is an international past-time: they were literally talking about his gorgeous shy smile and how well he uses his huge stick ;-). Barky - just remember that I'm the only one for you...

I wanna come to GB to watch hockey with you and drink (not all of) your booze. :rolly:

i feel like i wouldnt mind Boqvist bein on the 4th and Samo on the 3rd
Greer/Nosek/Boqvist is a pretty solid 4th and better than last years

Honestly the 3rd line is better with Boqvist . He has much better chemistry with them than Samo. I don't mind Samo getting some experience in the regular season, but I hope we find a 4RW at the deadline. Armia, Kunin, or Kuraly are my wish list. And then add a D. We'd be a pretty tough out in the East.

We need to add a 4th line C/W just for depth but I would still like to see Samo on the third line now that he has a few more games in the league. Jesper was good on the fourth but the third line has been pretty quiet with him.

I would settle for a reliable 5-6 D.

I'm a little nervous having Kulikov and Mikkola playing 20+ per night. Dallas proved last year you can't have only 2 guys on the back end capable of playing over 20 (Heiskanen at 28+). I think we need another top-4 D as well. Maybe Baliskis turns into that guy by the deadline, but I suspect not.

Ekblad gets way more hate than he deserves. He's a high-minute shutdown guy that has good chemistry with Forsling's style. Yes, he's slow-footed, but makes up for it with a good IQ and solid positioning.

Vegas and Dallas to me are the biggest threats

Vegas, yes. Dallas still hasn't addressed their on the back end yet. Heiskanen is playing almost 25 a night and only he, Harley and Lindell are over 20 (and Lindell isn't all that great). Winnipeg actually scares me more than Dallas does.

Yeah, Winnipeg is legit. Oettinger is just too hot and cold too. I don't think Dallas makes it to the Final. Although, Hellebuyck also has similar playoff concerns.

There really isn't a big enough sample size with Hellebuyck to know for sure. His last two postseasons were terrible, but he was battling injuries. The Jets also play a far better defensive structure in front of him than the Stars do. Oettinger OTOH you can see as the game gets bigger, he becomes more likely to fold. One of the differences between a "good" goalie and an "elite" one.
