I guess we will find out. Zegra has been downtrending with injuries for the past 2 years. He also has an attitude problem and coaches don't seem to like him nor do other players (but that's not really a problem for the Ducks). He also got overpaid. I don't think this trade value out the wazoo is going to come to fruition. Besides, you draft to find a long term piece of the puzzle, not for anticipated trade value. Also, Broberg after this year, his trade value is probably going to smoke Zegras's.

The point with Zegras is you probably would have traded him here a year or two ago, teams always value flashy young centers.

How much value would he have had as an Oiler when we realize early how far behind McD and Drai he is. Likely we convert him to Wing at a best case scenario he has some Eberle type years with us, but he’ll pick up the reputation as a Winger. And scoring wingers, especially small ones and one dimejonsal ones like Zegras really don’t have much value…

That's really something you shouldn't be trying to predict at the draft floor. Who the hell knows how your team will look like in 3 years and what pieces you will need. You draft the player you think can be that franchise cornerstone. If trades need to happen after the fact or don't, it just happens and you deal with it at the time.
Your wrong. Again.

So you think teams should draft in the 1st round and consider what they can return in trade 3 years from now instead of just getting the BPA for their franchise.

No I dont think I’m wrong. You are fine to disagree with me though, doesn’t mean you’re right.

okay.
Take a close look at Montreal right now. Kent Hughes will be facing 3 options of what to do with his first round pick. Interesting choice to be made here.
Actually drafting for a future trade is one of those options though i think there is a more interesting one that will be on the table.
Montreal has 9 options for their future top 6 already. They have too many quality D for their top 4 now. They have their future goalies most likely in Jacob Fowler and Jakub Dobes. They need to upgrade their bottom 6 players. There are a number of strategies to do that but you dont draft bottom 6 guys in the top ten. (i mean unless your stupid fricken past Management of Ottawa). I have no Doubt either in the short term (at the draft) or the longer term (draft and trade) Kent Hughes will turn this years pick into 3 plus assets for his bottom 6.
Montreal is not the only example of this.

I think he’ll look at the prospects available and pick the best one. He might also consider his prospects pipeline, and maybe look at what holes the Habs have. Although I disagree with looking at anything other than BPA in the 1st round. But I could see a GM doing that.

I don’t think he’ll draft a RHD or something cause RHD have great trade value that he can cash in on 3 years down the line. That all goes out the window if the player busts. So he’ll be focused on finding the BPA as his main focus and trade values would be at the very very back of his mind if they’re at all.

A lot. Look at what the Blues spent to get Broberg who had maybe 10 good games here. A Zegras could possibly land you like a Rasmus Andersson if he didn't have the Anaheim stink on him and you sell at the right time.

If the Ducks sold on Zegras after the 22-23 season, they'd have got a fortune for him.

This will be a somewhat unique year at the draft anyways with a number of teams quite desperate. Calgary and Boston will be chasing top 5 picks for example.

They spent peanuts but that’s cause they used a rare offersheet situation on us and we slow played Brobergs development. So he wasn’t able to show his value except for a brief playoff run. Forwards develop and hit the League faster, so if you want to say in Year 1 or 2 he’d have more trade Value then Broberg sure. But I think as their careers play out, Broberg who will be playing top pairing or top 4 at the worst with his NHL range and skating will be way more valuable than a one dimensional quasi-center like Zegras.

Did he legitimately set his hockey bag on fire? Shattenkirk retired the other day. I wonder if Schultz would consider a 1 year league minimum deal here?
You really want to try Justin 'I don't play south of the red line' Schultz in Knob's system. Talk about trying to bring new meaning to frustation. What you mean cheat for offense, Justin thinks HE is the offense.

Okay so maybe im exaggerating a weeee little bit.

Knob: Hey Connor, have you seen Schultzie?
Connor: For some reason KRIS he is outside stacking hay bales up against the arena!

Australia
I was shown this collection. Apparently I bought my wife a couple pieces for Christmas. My only request was that I also buy myself an Oilers throwback starter jacket. That’s real fashion.

That's f***in sick. I scored a vintage Oilers Shirt from 86, mint condition at a garage sale, $5 bucks. Was a women's though, so gave it to the wifey.

Man I bet Rod Brind A'mour is still purple. Maybe he blows a tube off his heart tonight.
Guarantee you those guys feel more like pee wee hockey players than professional millionaires tonight.
