Oliver Wahlstrom on waivers today. Former 11th overall pick... interesting

It's crazy how steep the drop off was in that draft.

Bouchard at #10 and Dobson at #12 and then you've got to go all the way to the 20s for K'Andre Miller and Rasmus Sandin for any signs of life. I guess Farabee isn't terrible either.

Excellent! We need to make a point and we need to make it now! All the players in the league understand this move and why.
Hope he kicks the shyte out of Theodore or even Hanafin.
Yes i know he is a lousy hockey player. But its worth a goal against to get this done.

Pretty cool. Something different for Oilers gear.

Support Lauren and everything she does! Do it for Captain!

The designs are quite nice and understated. I like it. We should have had something nicer with that dark navy + orange design like she has with that one jacket design instead of the glaring neon orange football style unis that burned your retinas.

It's funny how broken up we were over the Barzal and Zegras misses. Now both are downtrending to just good or in the case of Zegras, horrible and a huge douchebag with character issues.

Just because you draft someone doesn't mean you have be married to them forever.

We could have integrated a Barzal or Zegras into our group and had them put up numbers and then traded them for a king's ransom.

If Barzal had been here I think this fanbase would have fallen in love with him. He's a significantly better version of RNH IMO or a poor man's version of Nathan MacKinnon (either wouldn't be bad to have).

Perhaps still possible for some team to do this. More than one way to skin a dead cat.
Becoming more entrepenurial with players is something Vegas has attempted and more teams will attempt going forward i believe. One day you may even see teams in groups trading amongst themselves as blocks--but thats like when the league is much larger with extra continental divisions.

I think the sweaters are great for casual lounge wear. Checked the website, both styles are sold out. So she's a hit! For jackets and sportswear I prefer something louder, in like the Early 90s/80s styles, but it's not what she was going for here. Still pretty classy and nice though.

I mean alot could happen after the pick is made. Of course you pick WHOEVER over Losing a pick to an offersheet like we did.

But just in a vacuum, prospect vs. prospect, I don't think Zegras vs. Broberg was as bad of a fail as we initially thought. Broberg took time to develop, but ultimately will turn into an every day Top4 or better, with elite skating. Zegras came in faster with alot of flash and skill to his game, but lots of warts are starting to show up in his game and character. What's his career trajectory now? Like Eberle at best if he can keep his head on straight?

I don't really even get the hesistation,

Skilled, "flashy" centers who can skate and pot a few points generally have trade value out the wazoo. Even if you don't 100% like the player, I always felt like the Oilers could have taken those two players and got a total monster return for them after a couple of years.

Chiarelli probably could have saved his job just by taking Barzal. It would've at least kept the Oilers skill level and speed above par even with his bungling mismanagement of Hall and Eberle.

I guess we will find out. Zegra has been downtrending with injuries for the past 2 years. He also has an attitude problem and coaches don't seem to like him nor do other players (but that's not really a problem for the Ducks). He also got overpaid. I don't think this trade value out the wazoo is going to come to fruition. Besides, you draft to find a long term piece of the puzzle, not for anticipated trade value. Also, Broberg after this year, his trade value is probably going to smoke Zegras's.

I dunno. I could see Kent Hughes, Staois and even Kevin Adams drafting for that very purpose this year. Spend one or two years in development and trade them for 2 or 3 assets that you need to fill your roster. Admittedly its not something that teams early in their rebuild likely consider doing and in Buffalo's case they have the wrong management people in key hockey ops positions so not able to make good decisions.

That's really something you shouldn't be trying to predict at the draft floor. Who the hell knows how your team will look like in 3 years and what pieces you will need. You draft the player you think can be that franchise cornerstone. If trades need to happen after the fact or don't, it just happens and you deal with it at the time.
