Skinner has turned his season around and he has playoff experience along with Cup Finals experience.

And you still want Montembault?
Yeah, let’s ignore the start of the year or how he needed a backup to bail him out of a series last year in the playoffs.

Getting a better backup/1B should be a must with how inconsistent skinner is.

Fundamentally we're paying J. Skinner (3m), Arvidsson (4m), and Kane (5.125) and I'm not sure any of these three wingers are going to be in our top 6 and/or have chemistry with Draisaitl at this point.

That's way too much being spent and probably all three need to be gone if they all three of them have little/no chemistry with Draisaitl or even McDavid it seems.

And yeah I do think there is something problematic even with McDrai and the coaching staff's deployment if there's so many wingers here that wash out of here.

Everyone needs to look in the mirror at this point.

What if you could get McAvoy out of that tire fire in Boston?

I still can't fathom the reason for the Josh Brown signing. Just an obscure signing and it made no sense back then. It doesn't make an inch of sense now since we decided to pick up a waiver player to put ahead of him
I'm pretty sure they thought it was Connor lol

It’s not just the start of the year. It’s been the hallmark of his entire career. As I said in an earlier post, he’s playing very well right now but he needs to deliver for a longer period of time to show greater consistency and remove the doubt that exists around him.

It appears they are wedded to him long term as the 1, so a solid back up to Skinner would be welcome. However, Picard has been ok when called upon, so in terms of priority, an upgrade on back up isn’t as high as other needs on this roster.

I watched this game. He wasn't good at all, but to be fair, the team played horribad in front of him. Fowler and Gudas in particular were a train wreck. I'm just not sure I want to touch anyone from that tire fire of team, if I'm honest. They remind me of the DoD oilers a little too much.
I generally agree with this ….except for Dostal. I think that he’d be a solid netminder for us. Good numbers, young with a ceiling, and good skills.

Dostal does really look like he's found a higher level to his game this season, some consistency. It had bits and pieces in the past, but he's really put it together. If the Ducks ever considered moving, I would pay alot if I'm the Oilers.

Montembault at 50% would be awesome. He's also signed for another 2 years after this season
I don't see Montreal doing this without a massive over payment. He is their starter and Primeau has struggled bigtime this year. They also only have one retention slot left by the way. My guess is that they will more likely want to use this on a guy like Savard at the deadline. My guess is that for that deal they would want a 1st and someone like Akey or Savoie +. From the Oiler's perspective that price would not be justified.

Re: Goaltending: no trade is coming. Which is good news for all of you because you'll get to keep whining about goaltending until this team wins the cup!!

We should be spending every asset we have available on a #3 or #4 guy. Stu is our man, and Pickard is a solid backup. That's the end of it

Not sure if this scenario has ever happened but can another team have claimed Fabrro and then traded him to us with 50% retention? Or does he have to go back through waivers first?
?? Do you mean if he's waived again? Hell Columbus can flip him for 50% if they want, assuming they don't want to keep him.

Columbus would have to offer Fabbro back to any teams who placed a claim first. If no one else had placed a claim or those teams didn't want him, he could be traded without restriction.

I’m not as wedded to our tenders….both are sub .900 sv% and have inconsistencies in their histories here. Hardly the stuff of permanency.

No I mean if we contacted a team in the waiver priority before Columbus and said hey can you claim him for us and we will trade you assets to get him at 50%.
Ah, I'm not sure, might be tampering, but probably could have, however I doubt that other team would be interested because of maybe wanting the player and the risk of not getting him.

Yet ironically enough still has a higher save percentage then skinner all while playing in the ducks......

I wouldn’t be surprised if that doesn’t last all that long. Not because I have faith in Skinner, but because Gibson has been a bad goalie for a half dozen years and is seeing his numbers plummet after a hot start for him.
