Aren't we accruing cap again? Almost a million by the deadline if I read right. Then maybe we use LTIR to add Gibson and use cap accrual for the 4C
Also maybe we'd want to wait until the deadline because we might want to make the RD move instead if Klingberg doesn't pan out. Or maybe we aren't married to Gibson and want to see what's out there at the deadline that doesn't require committing to a player we don't get to see on the team first.
What would you expect him to say? “Our goalie sucks and we need a replacement”?
Did anyone post that at the end of the Friedman conversation with Stauffer that both agreed that the Oilers would still want to keep Skinner and have both him AND Gibson?
I just dont see Skinner traded even if we do bring in Gibson. To me, that means that Gibson would absolutely have to be retained.

Sounds like there is a bit of real smoke surrounding Gibson, there was that unsolicited rumor about Gibson being willing to waive for Edmonton back at the beginning of the season that made the rounds too that coincides with the gist of the rumors.
I hope they do it personally as I am not a huge fan of Skinner. I have posted here about hoping the Oilers would acquire Gibson going back to before Campbell was signed, and even argued with people here who couldn't see past the bad situation in Anaheim.

lol- if they are looking at actual facts and data- it should be a slam dunk. But this organization has always put not hurting feelings ahead of winning. Man, sometimes I wish they had a little Kevin Lowe in them and place winning above all else

To be fair to @McTonyBrar, he doesn’t do this every time. Far from it. I bust his balls about listening to all the podcasts and talk shows about the Oilers and posting whatever he hears from there- but he only has posted something he hears from his source maybe at the deadlines. He has called quite few right.
Going to give him the benefit of the doubt on his source. And hey, if he’s wrong- nothing changes in the world and you’ll still wake up tomorrow

I can't tell if Oilers fans are delusional or if duck fans are. Now that Gibson is playing well, their fans are asking for the moon.
No other contender / playoff team would even consider Gibson at his full cap hit.
I think Anaheim would do Gibson at 50%, if they felt like they were doing right by the player for everything he's done for the organization. I dont see a scenario where Edmonton gives up a 1st round pick for Gibson, even strength 50%.

What I’ve been hearing is Gibson is 100% down to come to Edmonton but only as a #1. Friedman said, in his opinion, Gibson may just have to bite the bullet and come here as a #1A and eventually earn the #1 role
