While I don't care much about timing (whether it's now or at the deadline) this front office better do something good at some point this season.

As a front office, the management here has done really f*** all that's meaningful since bringing in Ekholm and that's now years ago.

Frankly a 1st for Henrique was an overpayment and resigning him at 3 mill per also hasn't been a great move. Arvidsson isn't fitting in well here, the coach seems to hate Jeff Skinner, so both of those moves don't seem to be working and all that led to being handcuffed into basically letting two 1st round picks get offer sheeted.

This front office needs to gets it shit together and do something meaningful for a change, it's been long enough now since they've done anything that moves the needle, frankly they're coasting off the Knoblaugh/Coffey coaching change bump still.

Rakell still has a year left but if we know Kane will be out till the playoffs adding him would be huge. Money wise his contract will be mostly covered by Skinners.

Skinner - McDavid - Hyman
Podkolzin - Draisaitl - Rakell
Kane - RNH - Arvidsson
Janmark - Henrique - Brown

I still remember Hitchcock’s reaction to watching Benning play the first time as Oilers coach.

I suspect PDB will have a similar reaction when he sees Ceci play.

i don't know who or what the right move is for this team, and I am happy with the results as a whole so far this season, but I am concerned about the lack of production, especially goal scoring wise from our middle 6, outside of Drai. Skinner (no opportunity), Arvidsson, RNH, Rico, Brown, Janmark, Podkolzin are all being outplayed by a 39 year 4th line winger, and a waiver pick up. Kap and Perry have done more than their part so far. Pod works hard, and only makes 1 million per, but for playing as much as he does with 29, doesn't score many goals. This team was supposed to be deep up front, and so far, they've been a disappointment. I expected so much more from Arvidsson, he's not effective, not a pest, not solid on his skates, not productive. Saad would of been nice, at least he was another chance at someone to produce in the middle 6. I wouldn't be shocked if he fit in very well with Vegas. I sure hope an upgrade or 2 is made, this team is too good, and too close to be ok with what they have right now.

When you're looking on upgrading your 6th best forward (Arvidsson) and your #4/5 dman (Klingberg) with over a month to the deadline you're in pretty good shape.

Don't forget Kane is coming back for the playoffs.

Who are even the big targets available now for the deadline? Lots of teams especially in the East seem to be in the hunt for a playoff spot and may not be sellers.

Forwards:

Rakell?
Kuzmenko (lol)
Marchessault?
Stamkos? (wouldn't want due to contract)
Fabbri
Bjugstad (again) lol
Frederic (Bruins)
Kostin
B. Nelson (maybe, Isles are in the hunt)
Lafferty (depth player)

D:

Ristolanien
TJ Brodie (lol)
Savard (Habs)
Olli Maata
Valimaki (?)
Connor Murphy
Oleksiak (?)

Goalies:

Gibson or Dostal
Vejmelka
Annunen
C. Ingram
Dobes? (Habs)
Blomqvist (Pittsburgh)
Quick?
Reimer

Pie In The Sky (as in probably not):

They aren't in a bad spot, never said that or hinted at that at all. I said I was happy with the results, and that they are a very, good team. I said, depth, and middle 6 production are a concern, especially as other teams continue to add and improve around us (Dallas, Vegas, Calgary - all have). Colorado got better in net, downgraded upfront, but i am sure they are planning to add.

Kane is a complete wildcard, off for about 10 months, and coming off multiple, major surgeries. Hard to count on his production when he comes back.

My main point was, how many of the following would you say is having a better than average season so far???

RNH - no.
Arvidsson - no.
C. Brown - no.
J. Skinner - no.
Janmark - no.
Henrique - no.

Not even one of them is having an average season so far. To me, that could turn into a problem, when the games start to matter, and this team needs a goal. It can't all be on 97, 29, 18, and Corey Perry. Either some of these guys need to step up and start scoring, or they need to make an acquisition or 2, or hopefully a combination of the 2.

Way too many passengers this season, when it comes to actually scoring.

I might have wound up being not that far off with the theory I posted last night 😵‍💫.

I don’t dislike any of our forwards really. But the guys you have listed just haven’t been productive enough. As much as I like Knoblauch (especially on the defensive structure side), he’s not really getting much offense out of the forwards.

What do we think of this Jakub Dobes kid from Montreal? They're hyping him like he's the next coming of Patrick Roy, lol.
