I think a lot of Canucks fans are justifying this deal in their heads as "well, we were going to lose JT or EP40 anyways - so at least we got something decent in return" - - but that completely overlooks the FAILURE of management to let it get to this point.

The big shock is that they didn't turn Miller into any sort of quality future asset. They immediately flipped the pick for a second pairing defenseman that they'll likely have to overpay to keep.

In terms of volume, sure, turning Miller and junk into Chytil, Mancini and Pettersson is a reasonably large return. But it just keeps them into the mushy middle. And none of those pieces get you any sort of value alone.

I'm guessing that we will be targeting a top 6 winger since Arvidsson and Skinner haven't lived up to expectations and IMO RNH is better down the middle than on the wing.
That's the vibe I get as well, particularly with Kane's health still fairly uncertain. Bowman and Jackson seem to keep their cards fairly close to their chest, none of the moves they've made the last while have really been forecasted by anyone. If we do manage to do something big, it wouldn't surprise me if it's a name that no one has been talking about.
