Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread | With Klingberg in the Mix Who Are Our 7D After the Deadline?

We are old and lack prospect pool depth.
We haven't even won a cup yet and the clock is already ticking.

I mean, we didn't have our 1st Round Pick last year, and we still drafted someone in the 1st Round (Sam O'Reilly) when we traded for Philly's First Round Pick. If we really want to draft someone that is on the board, we can do it. I don't see the point in holding assets if the right player comes along that will immediately improve our team beyond 1 year.

Yes!! Thank you for posting. At least some here get it. I don’t understand where this mentality that every transaction must involve the Oilers or else mgt isn’t doing their jobs comes from. It’s completely non-sensical.

Frankly, because they aren’t involved is often a larger indicator that they are doing their jobs. And well.

Yeah, like Tobias was saying, it's like 3-4 Posters who have this agenda to post ridiculous comments like "Stan Bowman did nothing and the Canucks GM is doing everything. Is he taking a nap?" which is said about EVERY GM we have EVER had here. Sometimes, the best moves, are the ones you DON'T do. We are not in desperation mode. We are comfortably in 3rd place in the NHL. And if my memory serves me right, these same posters were also told a few years back "You'd complain even if the Oilers were in the top of the league and won a Cup" which is a very valid point. I just decide to ignore them as they bring nothing to the conversation that's remotely constructive.

It's like when you make a video game, and the only comment you make is "This game sucks"...ok, WHY THOUGH? How can we improve it? Just saying "It Sucks" doesn't solve shit. So better to just keep your mouth shut and don't say anything, or give us ACTUAL proof for your argument instead of wasting it on theories and personal agendas.

The team that's missing out is LA. They need a shake up to stop the bleeding.

I'm pleased we did nothing. There's nothing there I want for our team.

Just coast until the deadline. There will be more sellers then

Yep. I'm kinda watching Boston and see what we can get from them. They got some nice pieces that we could use.

I think LA needs to stop trading. They need a new PoHo and GM with a new vision. But it doesn’t bother me personally if they keep letting Blake make bad decisions.

I know it's touchy around here, but Rasmus Andersson is the perfect D to add if Klingberg doesn't pan out. I don't buy that Calgary wouldn't trade to us. The missing factor there is that Calgary has to start losing. Even with these trades, I bet they implode soon

That, quite frankly, is what we got with Klingberg. Difference is, we didn't pay assets through our noses to get him. But SOME here want to pay assets through our noses because we need to 'prove' to the NHL we are 'busy'.

Also...

Looks like the issues are still gonna be there LOL. This is fun to watch.

I keep reading so many Canucks posters who think these moves are necessary to keep Hughes happy.

Keep thinking that players on that team are going to happy about having a worse roster. More pressure on EP now. He better start performing. Hes been a ghost for a year.

They're upset because the move they wanted was for themselves to get traded.

Why? Are we struggling to make the playoffs and keep our players happy?

Being first to the market doesn’t make it the best move.
I never said being first to market means it's a good move. I said Jim Rutherford is always first.

Why should we trade a first for something else this year? That's pretty obvious................ (you just love arguing with certain people)

Wait are people upset we didn’t trade a 1C for a mid round 1st and a 3c and then flip that 1st with a decent prospect a 7D and a 3rd line winger for a pending ufa LEFT defensemen?
Really?

Yup, we really should've traded Drai for Chytil and a 1st, then flip the 1st for an UFA 4th D. Oh and toss in Arvidsson and JBrown for good measure.
What was Bowman thinking? Sleeping at the job again. /s

I just love pointing out when people post dumb shit.

Kinda like when you called someone out that the nhlpa wouldn’t let McDavid sign a cheap contract, and then when multiple posters say otherwise you just ignore the subject.

Haha as long as media just writes Petterson without specifying which one, EP40 can just pretend the criticism wasn't directed at him and thus, feelings not hurt.

I’d be looking at Filip Forsberg as a player to target. I think he needs a change of scenery as his numbers are way down. He would be a monster on McDavid or Draisaitl’s wing and could be a bargain with the cap going up dramatically. Nashville is in the bottom 5 of the league and is probably contemplating a rebuild at this point. Dealing Forsberg would be the start of it.

I know that Miller was an enormous headache and the distraction being gone might actually galvanize their group but my god did they get bent over in that trade. They traded a top 10 offensive player over the last 3 years on a decent contract for a run of the mill center in Chytil, some random prospect and what is, at best, a mid 1st rounder but more likely late 1st rounder. Ouch
